e e that is is I he [Music] she's going to be [Music] he [Music] n [Music] he [Music] [Music] [Music] he he he [Music] we did it we did it 10,000 um so I was looking at my YouTube stats and we have officially 10,24 videos online most of those are individual films but I would say probably 1,600 wait is that right is it not 16 no I think it's like 1,400 I always inflate that number of lunches that we've done and what is that number that number is we've only done 1300 and some change uh so the rest of that is um individual films and we've been doing this for 17 years uh as of next month next week uh we started this iteration of the YouTube channel in March 26 2008 uh this was the third or fourth channel that we tried as uh YouTube was kicking us off for various copyright violations which we are still actively doing um but they have changed over the years and how they are doing that so there you go and also it's St Patrick's Day today did I mention that I'm skip Alzheimer and this is the avgeeks lunchtime streaming show if not that's what that's who I am and that's what we are doing um we watch old 16mm films and we watched a film strip I'm going to try to put more energy towards that and get more film strips online because we have thousands of those that we have not even looked at or touched um so we'll continue to do that but first let's watch some Curious cougars curious cougars enjoy way [Music] [Music] [Music] the southwestern United States a region of hot colorful deserts of strange rock formations and deep canyons in this part of the Southwest Navajo Indians live and tend their sheep and the large cats call the Cougars prowl once cougars roamed much of North America today they live mainly here some travel the hot deserts and canyons some wander the high mountains the high cold mountains that rise above the [Music] desert here on these snow covered slopes that look down on deep canyons and Barren deserts a mother cougar and her growing kittens live two young cougars curious about their world and the other living things in [Music] it cougar kittens are large when they're born about 12 in long and they grow fast they stay with their mother until they're a year or so old eventually they may grow to be 7 ft long and weigh 180 lb but now these young cougars are only about half as big as their mother they have a lot of growing to do and much to learn some lessons come from watching their mother and others from mistakes but Falls aren't usually dangerous for cougars they've been known to drop safely from a height of 60 [Music] ft these cougars share their living space with many other animal an some that can be as ferocious as they [Music] are neither the bear nor the young cougar is interested in being ferocious right now each is simply curious about the other each is being a little careful too a playful SWAT but the cougar isn't going to wait for the bear to swat back but now that the cougar is safe up the tree the big question is how can the cougar get down out of the tree past the bear the answer is another lesson learned teamwork [Music] helps while one of the young cougars is in the tree the other one silently creeps up on the bear and then that was enough to frighten the bear away or maybe the bear just decided that two cougars to one bear wasn't a fair match and so their curiosity helps the young cougars learn more about their world and about the other animals that live in it how to live peacefully with them or protect themselves when they have to [Music] once in a while humans come riding up into the mountains where the two young cougars live with their [Music] mother although humans may bring guns the Cougars are safe because they're protected by conservation laws cougars usually keep away from people but mother cougars are very protective of their young and if it looks like someone or some animal is getting too close a mother cougar will take [Music] action the loud rifle shot should be enough to stop the mother cougar from chasing the dog it is but the young cougars have been very frightened by the [Music] sound while their mother cautiously watches to make sure the Riders and their dogs are leaving she doesn't know that her kittens are no longer nearby frightened by The Gunshot the young cougars have headed down into a [Music] canyon now as they follow a path toward the river that flows through the canyon into the desert new sights and sounds and odors make them curious to find out what sort of a place they've wandered into [Music] [Music] a swift flowing river is hard to get [Music] across but cougars are good swimmers raccoons the Cougars have seen raccoons before up in the mountain but they're still curious about these furry little animals this is a kind of play for the young cougars exercise that will help them become good Hunters when they're older the Cougars soon Tire of this kind of play not far past the stream a much more interesting experience lies ahead for them here a family of Navajo Indians lives and tends a small flock of [Music] sheep the Navajo tribe is one of the largest in North America almost all of the navajos live out here in the American southwest before Europeans settled America the navajos were Wanderers who hunted and farmed but now those who live here are mostly sheep herders because the navajos know that cougars live in the mountains above them they know there's always the danger that a hungry cougar might come into their Corral and carry off a [Music] lamb but that's not what these young cougars mean to do they're only curious about the woly animals in the Corral one of the Cougars is curious enough to go right into the Corral and have a close look at those strange animals inside at least they're strange to the couger [Music] the mother sheep sense danger and stay close to their lambs now the women have seen the [Music] cougar the fact that it's young and only curious means very little to them the cougar is a threat to their sheep the Cougars weren't quite ready for this kind of experience but they've learned from it and now the young Cougar's mother has found them she guides them out of the canyon back to the high cool mountains back to their home where they have much more growing and much more learning to do [Music] that was a pretty hip soundtrack um so the very reminiscent of Disney did a whole True Life Adventures series uh which were Nature Documentaries um I feel like they did those in the late 40s early 50s and they were shown um in feature as feature films in theaters and um so a lot of them had these Adventures of various um types of animals and so curious cougars seems like that would be an appropriate title for one of those films um so these are a bunch of uh cornet films that we've done and occasionally we run across run across something that is a little weird and this one is an example of that this is The Emperor's New Clothes but this is like a weird interpretation of it so here we go enjoy once not so long ago there lived an emperor who loved his own image more than anything else he spent all his time posing for his mirror and all his money on new clothes in all his kingdom clothes were the only things he cared about except of course himself [Music] one day a stranger knocked at the palace Gates and asked to see the emperor I am a weaver she an Master he will never see cloth as beautiful as the cloth eyew weave its colors are more dazzling than clouds at sunset its patterns more wondrous than a midnight sky full of stars and it makes your skin laugh with joy at its touch but even more than this my cloth is [Music] Magic then she refused to say another word until she saw the emperor himself when the emperor heard of the stranger claims he demanded to see her at once the Weaver bowed low and kissed the emperor's hand the emperor smiled over the Weaver's Head At His Image in the mirror he could already imagine himself dressed in Splendid new clothes [Music] then the Weaver described the magic powers of the clothes she made they are invisible to anyone not fit for a job she said even a king and they are invisible to fools [Music] ah thought the emperor not only will I have the most unusual clothes in the world I will know how to tell the wise from the [Music] foolish soon the Weaver was hard at work her fingers flew above her loom in the thin Morning Light and through the thick gold of the late afternoon sun and when the air turned blue in the evening [Music] every day the emperor heard reports from his faithful ministers and servants they described the dazzling cloth that grew inch by inch on the loom how soft it was how intricate the patterns and the colors delicious enough to taste [Music] the emperor's own clothes might have been made of old gray Rags for all the joy they brought him now so to cheer himself up he announced there would be a procession when his magnificent new clothes were ready he invited everyone in the Kingdom to come and sent word to the Weaver that he was getting [Music] impatient now the Weaver appeared to work hard harder than [Music] ever she announced the cloth was done and carefully took it from the loom then she snipped and sewed and stitched 16 Candles flickered beside her from sunset to Sunrise as she worked in the morning she brought the emperor his brand new clothes look them here in the sunlight she said so your majesty will get the full effect but though the emperor stared as hard as he could he could not see one single thread now he knew he was a fool and not fit to be the emperor at all but of course he could not say these things so he praised the clothes and pretended to dress he agreed with all his courtiers that no one in the world ever had clothes of such beauty the Weaver pretended to lift the long train of the cape the emperor glanced one last time at his image in the mirror then gave the signal for the procession to begin [Music] finally the emperor appeared at the palace Gates a huge crowd waited all wanting to see The Emperor's New Clothes all wanting secretly to find out if they were fools no one saw any clothes at all and no one dared admit it as the emperor passed along the prominade they all clapped and hared everyone exclaimed to everyone else ah look at the emperor's find new clothes the procession wound Through The Heart of the City and One Small Voice sliced through all the admiring oo and A's like a knife but he has nothing on cried the ch child ripples of laughter spread through the crowd and grew louder and louder he has nothing on he has nothing on all the people said at last [Music] the emperor knew that what they said was true he knew he was a fool but he thought the procession must go on he pretended to smooth out a wrinkle and to settle the cape more gracefully around his shoulders and he walked on alone to the very end of the town [Music] a [Music] [Applause] [Music] so that was interesting um somebody uh took over a TV studio and used a bunch of chroma key or not chroma key Luma key effects uh an overlaid video of dancers Etc um pretty cool definitely like that [Music] okay um so I looked to see if I had any films that were appropriate to St Patrick's Day and not any that I haven't shown um so we're just going to acknowledge that today is St Patrick's Day um if you have Irish heritage um be proud of it it's a rich history uh and it certainly contributed to US History uh but let's learn about energy via animation enjoy [Music] this is an e this e is for energy and this is an e this e is for ecology e and the star of this movie is the energy e [Music] ah the sun's energy [Music] such a pretty song the sun's energy gives us light the sun's energy gives us [Music] heat the sun's energy also helps you do [Music] work how do you get energy from the Sun here is some of the sun's energy stored up inside this Apple the Apple comes from an apple tree The Apple Tree uses the sunlight far away the sun is making the wind and the [Music] rain The Apple Tree uses the rain too soon apples grow on the tree and inside the apple is the energy that started with the sun and when you eat the apple you get the energy the energy makes you strong thank you you're welcome when you work hard you can feel that heat from the energy you are using soon you're hungry you need more energy and the apple tree uses the energy from the Sun to grow a new Apple in fact all the food you eat gets its energy from the Sun [Music] now I would like to introduce you to a friend of mine another kind of energy electric energy now electric energy will show you some of the things it can do 34 [Applause] [Music] electric energy can do a lot of work and of course it can light up a oh dear there it goes again let's see what's wrong [Music] [Applause] tonight people in the city as well as the country were in the dark as another power failure caused the electricity to go off in an effort to explain this we go now to the electric Generating Station it's not my fault I'm running out of the stuff that gives me energy oil well let's find out about [Applause] oil it's not my fault oil is getting harder and harder to find maybe you should talk to my brother Cole dig dig dig howdy lots of coal here coal will last for many years how much do you want the only problem is pollution bad air coal doesn't work with ecology too well ecology ecology should hear about this too do you see what I mean hm we have one more guest on our show maybe it can help us its name is eal mc² or nuclear energy or nuke for short tell me nuke War do not come too close oh I understand you have terrific energy yes I have much energy good can you run out like oil some people saying I can be made to last for a long time great well do you pollute the air do you pollute the water some people think I can be made not to pollute the air and the water good only yes some people think my radiation well that I'm too dangerous to use dangerous [Music] radiation well that's the story folks our Energy Fuels to make electricity are running out or they're not clean to use they pollute or they could be very dangerous to use what we need is an energy that we can use that is safe clean so it doesn't pollute and is renewable renewable that means the energy won't run out that it keeps coming back new again renewable that's our program have a happy well electricity we better do something for you a way to make electricity that is safe renewable and won't hurt the ecology I'm going to ask my friend ecology about [Music] [Applause] this you called yes my friend here electricity is in trouble the energy used to make electricity is running out or it's dangerous or it hurts the ecology I knew something was wrong let's see what can be done of course we can use less electricity we can save energy by turning off electricity when we don't need it but we still don't have a good way to make electricity what can be done we need something that is safe to use and doesn't hurt the ecology and is renewable which means it won't run out it ites the sun of course oh of course why's answer think of [Applause] it the sun's energy can be very powerful if you know how to use it oh thank you and the sun's energy is in the wind and water too and plants grown in sunlight have a lot of energy stored up inside and there are probably lots of other kinds of energy to use as long as they're safe won't hurt the ecology and and renewable sing re when there is that must be done make the energy used is one that's safe clean and rable [Music] almost a toet Tapper it was too short Too Short uh so at the end of this show I will show the toet tapping tourament uh candidates we are competing with found footage Festival tomorrow evening live and hopefully you will be there and hopefully you'll be able to vote I'm not sure if they're going to do a judge or if they're going to let their viewers vote if we let your viewers vote then uh you guys I you got to be there for me and I'll try to get a clarification on that um anyways yeah animated kind of wacky uh so this film is uh based in a place that's not too far from here within like an hour and a half of Raleigh where a Geeks is based this is about Spivey Corner North Carolina do you know anything about spivey's Corner North Carolina I have been there for the the one internationally known event uh I don't think they do it anymore which is too bad but uh here's a documentary about it [Music] enjoy wonder which one be the best I need this When My Blue Moon turn to roommate Michael pilmer who does a Thursday night uh podcast streaming show on YouTube he's also the dvo archist and he went and they had a whistling contest and he won it and he what he did is he mimicked the video game the arcade game uh Phoenix the kind of the I can't even I can't even do it but he did it and he won the trophy um and uh later he did a he was in a band called silica gel and he did a song called Master of the game where he used a sample from the hollering contest in the song and slowed it down and it was awesome yeah anyways speaking of songs so we're doing the toet
