right for for e [Music] [Music] [Music] I [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] think our relationship is I I hi everybody I'm SK Alzheimer Welcome to the avgeek lunchtime streaming show where we watch old 16 mm films and that was something I bought on eBay a long time ago it was a bunch of these schaer commercial outtakes and um if you're not familiar with Schaefer beer it is low tiered it was uh a uh beer that we would buy because it was the cheapest beer and uh along with black label and some other notorious Blatz 1849 it was another beer that we would buy but uh schaer yeah you know they had an ad campaign at some point and uh so this was some 16 mm outtake footage so the deal with that is why is it silent uh because they would film and then they would have uh microphones and it would be recording to uh magnetic tape on like a nagra or some other thing and then what they would do is they would marry the two um and then eventually make uh prints which would be uh Optical sound so that's unfortunately there was no audio that came with it because that would be great I would love to hear what these people from and here's a question was this late '70s or was this early 80s like there was no date information on there so I'm not sure when this was shot like when do you think WR in the comments um anyways we watch old 16mm films and being with you is really uh important for me is helping me a great deal uh I appreciate um even know we're not there in person I appreciate uh being there and I recommend uh reaching out to friends and family um and just say hi see how how everybody's doing uh here's oldmobile talking about the future which it would have been the past uh this is uh a series of one minute movies by Oldsmobile and ultimately probably Jam handy [Music] enjoy futuramic it's a brand new word for dramatic design of the future as Architects will tell you futuramic design combines Beauty with utility in houses or in automobiles futuramic design means styling with a purpose the new 1948 o mobile is the first of the futuramic cars it's designed for utmost passenger comfort and maximum visibility as well as for smartness and style and with GM hydromatic Drive there's no gear shift no clutch pushing just step on the gas and go the smart way the future ceramic way the old mobile way there he comes now in his Merry Old mobile it's a futuramic old mobile with the newest push button features automatic windows automatic top just pull a handy control and before you've had time to admire the smooth flowing futuramic lines of this real postwar old mobile the top is down automatic like to drive it just slip into that big comfortable front seat touch that button and press to the seat adjusts itself driving's almost automatic too with GM hydramatic Drive there's no clutch pedal and gears shift automatically in this smart new futuramic old mobile for 1948 watch how easy it is to drive in a high dramatic old mobile this special camera mounted on the back of the car will give you a bird's eye view keep your eye on the driver's right hand see even as she slows down smoothly and stops for a traffic sign she has both hands on the wheel even as she starts up again and pulls away from traffic there's no gear shifting no clutch pushing all she does is steer the car and operate the accelerator there's not even a clutch pedal there the camera shows that hydramatic drive works almost like magic keeps you always in the right gear automatically it's smart to own an SS a futuramic 's mobile with GM hydromatic Drive in the truly modern home or the truly modern car it's functional design that comes smart styling is styling with the purpose as seen in this new 1948 futuramic old mobile futuramic is a brand new word created to describe this brand new postwar General Motors car luxuriously appointed inside and out the futuramic old mobile brings truly modern post-war design to the automotive field there's utility as well as Beauty in every smart detail there's the safety of Greater visibility there's automatic shifting too and no clutch pushing thanks to GM hydramatic Drive the smart way to go is the automatic way in a futuramic old mobile futuramic um I believe it was they went to the World's Fair and they had a Futurama um Pavilion where they showed off the future what the future was going to look like and uh that's where of course the animated show Matt granny show Futurama came from was that um so this is them taking that and running with it uh and these on minute uh basically mini movies were commercials that were shown in theaters um people complain about well they show all this advertising they show nowadays guess what there was a lot of advertising uh in fact there was uh so many short subjects that would appear before the feature film I mean that's all basically that was all stuff um a lot of that was sponsored and so was actually advertising for other things uh all right so this next film is um this is it was made by I think social science films which was based in St Louis and they did another film that I have uh called as others see us and it was basically a film teaching etiquette in a dance or prom or formal dance situation and I think this is a continuation of that so social science is all about learning uh Grace or Charm this is probably what you would learn in Charm School um enjoy [Music] if success or happy morning paper what qualities do you think you would need your high school diploma a college degree Beauty brain full popularity all of us want to make a success of our lives and while some careers call for special talents and special skills there are qualities we all can develop to bring success to each one of us as a person take bill here success to him right now means getting a job and he's checking up on himself to see if he has the qualifications mentioned in the ad as he makes the rounds he finds that Poise radiant health and good appearance are of great importance in the adult world that success while it depends on a number of things includes these characteristics he sense these things in school of course as most of you do and Mom and Dad talk some about it at home but few of us take the time to really study the subject you hear a lot about personality in high school and college about he or she is a good personality poor one look at her posture here's Tom stiff as a ramrod his shoulders are BRAC back instead of being balanced and ready to move he's on a Deuces fatigue Susie slouches and thereby instead of appearing as an alert friendly young lady she seems tired all the time now Jack may be an a student but his personality and Poise would be improved if his posture were not so lopsided some of these posture Falls go back to our kindergarten days and before parents and teachers realizing the importance of posture appearance and physical and mental health give more thought to it than formerly the chair must fit even the smallest child if he's to learn good posture habits hips should touch the back of the chair and the feet should be flat on the floor later on when used help conscious teachers fit the dead child instead of merely assigning a child to a desk as was done too often in the past now we know that boys and girls too should learn the feel of sitting correctly because good Poise and balance posture not only improve appearance and cut down fatigue but they make it easier to concentrate on the lessons or whatever is at hand if you have formed some bad functional posture habits talk to your teacher who will help you correct them if you'll take the time and effort with good posture a straight line should run from the tip of your skull down through your neck shoulders hips knees and inets if the line is fairly straight then your line of balance is good if your head sticks out like a turtle or if you slump to one side or slouch on one foot or if your tummy sticks out your line of balance is bad and a strain is placed on your muscles to keep you from falling bad posture is continued when you can't work well or enjoy playing your favorite sport we won't run a straight line from the tip of your skull down through your insteps but here is an adequate substitute to practice at home with the aid of a partner stand with your back to a wall heels shoulders and calves of legs should touch the wall let your partner check you head shoulders calves of legs heels all touching wall Head Shoulders heels all in line if so good if not practice till you're in good posture try to get the balance feel and then hold that line let's check on this young man's standing posture head high as if balancing a book on the head chest out abdomen and back as flat as possible knees very lightly flexed not locked weight slightly forward over the balls of the feet and distribute it evenly on each foot feet parallel about 6 in apart this posture check is as good for the fair sex as it is for the rugged male the sense of balance you gain from it is truly remarkable it gives you a feeling of poise and without Poise no one can be really attractive if you have a space at the back of your waist line try to flatten the hollow of your back by pulling in against the wall good posture depends on skill not strength so practice this posture over and over and carry it with you wherever you go you'll be surprised how much better you'll feel once you've gained balanced posture and you men relax remember the straight line of balanced posture don't lump but don't be a ramrod either people with good posture enjoy life enjoy going places and doing things and they become less tired because of that balanced feeling of course without good health one can never achieve that balanced feeling and an important part of good health is proper eating here's a good way to start the day right citrus fruit whole grain cereal milk and cocoa don't skimp on breakfast it's important and take time for lunch take time to eat the foods that are good for you like this tempting cheese sandwich green and yellow vegetables and fruit we'll leave the carbohydrates the vitamins the enzymes and the proteins to the science class and rely on the seven Basic Foods as recommended by the national research Council these are milk and its products meat cheese fish or eggs green and yellow vegetables potatoes citrus fruit everyday and other fruits and season cereals some whole grained and enriched and bread and butter give you the 50 odd chemical constituents you need for proper nutrition you can get them all in these simple but attractive meals which are easy to cook because good nutrition posture proper rest and physical activity are the basis for a good personality modern teachers of physical education have developed interpretive exercises that can be fun as well as helpful the emphasis is on fresh air mass rhythms and interpretive dances which call into play all the muscles and Bones functioning together or good posture this open air pageant is a good example of the new idea in physical education these folks are having fun as well as exercising and they have their eyes on the future remember if you want to have fun if you want to really enjoy life practice good posture get that balanced feeling eat good foods regularly in your three meals a day to maintain good health get enough rest and exercise in the fresh air to release tensions and have fun radiant Health good appearance Poise and good posture will help you enjoy life not only as an individual but as a member of the community and as a citizen of America [Music] [Music] so there seem to be some gratuitous Dairy shots in there uh Dairy food shots and I seem to remember uh the other film the uh as other cus also has like a Dairy component to it and I feel like it was sponsored by like a St Louis dairy uh company it's my feeling it's my gut uh so yesterday I showed a film called coffee break which was um made by Calvin films and was talking about uh the coffee break as being a bad thing um you know and there was a defense for the coffee break and I mentioned there was a Coca-Cola film that was all about taking a Coca-Cola break so here it is uh I've shown this I showed this like two years ago but here it is again refreshment on the job enjoy [Music] for [Music] everywhere people go they want refreshment at home on the road at the ball game or wherever not only at play but also at work on the job so often that's where you want refreshment most and enjoy it most especially quality refreshment refreshment you can trust like you trust the product you make on your job a quality product made with the best of materials with experience and care [Music] here's refreshment you can enjoy quickly and conveniently and a place to put the bottle when you're through yes sir refreshment is on the job side by side with the people on the production line in Plants large and small in factories and Mills in warehouses drafting rooms and offices a bottle of ice cold cocacola when you're thirsty or a little tired you know how it is you just seem to get along better with your work when you're fresh and refreshed through the [Music] day and now on every kind of job cocacola is being made available for your enjoyment a lot of thought went into placing the vending machines in the right spots spots as close as possible to you so you won't have to walk clear across the plant for a little quick refreshment top management was in on it and the foreman [Music] too no one knows his shop and what is required to run it right better than the foreman so when that big red cooler shows up on your job you know it isn't being put in that particular spot just by chance it's the handiest spot the closest and most convenient these big coolers will hold plenty of coke too they are designed and built especially for Mills plants offices places like the one you work in where there are lots of people they're automatic of course and easy to operate just drop in a coin and out comes a bottle of coke keeping the coin cooler filled is the job of the route [Music] salesman he makes it his business to see to it that there is always enough on hand in every cooler to meet the demand and he likes to get firsthand ination on whether or not everyone is getting refreshment just right ice cold and this fell is plenty particular on that subject he'll settle for nothing less than the well call it the ice cold Zone which for the record is between 33 and 38° every step he follows in loading and servicing the coolers is made with one aim and that is to make make sure you get ice cold refreshment when you want it the way you want it he carries a pocket full of nickels so he can make change for anyone who needs [Music] it and you'll notice he won't leave until that cooler of yours is clean inside and out it's part of the job of Good Housekeeping he he knows the importance of orderliness around a place like yours for one thing he knows the same as you do that cleaning up putting things away keeping things where they belong makes safety sense as well as a more pleasant place to work so let's put him back in the rack Mac please that is the convenience and pleasure of having ice cold refreshment at work is for all the folks on the job thank you and it's part of everybody's job to protect that convenience for themselves and all the others who enjoy it by putting the bottles back in the rack do your part put empties in the rack Safety First it's just a reminder in case anyone should forget that empties belong in the racks and the racks themselves they're always located at the coolers and elsewhere in handy places by keeping things straight we'll keep refreshment on the job it's keeping everything in its place that counts for a safer place to work and everyone in the plant realizes the safety value of alertness on the job for the men who work with molten metal or the men in the foundries and Mills here's real refreshment for people whose jobs require alertness and what job doesn't the men of the machine shop too where Precision is needed to the thousandth of an inch and refreshment on the job it's a relaxing experience so whether your job is at the controls in the office or on the production line in the yards or in the warehouse no matter what the job everybody in every circumstance everywhere enjoys refreshment on the job just as you do because you're more alert because you think and act and work with an eye to safety and precision when you're refreshed through the day it's the route salesman's job to see you are always supplied with ice cold Coke he will do his part but he'll need help from you to keep refreshment on the job [Music] what it was a safety first work refreshed Coca-Cola 5 cents um there's a great book I read uh God country and Coca-Cola which is basically talks about the history of Coca-Cola in the United States and how it became part of the culture um it's fascinating it's really good good read uh I don't know if it's on audio book or not but uh it's it's great nonetheless all right what do we got uh what time is it it I know what time it is it's time out for trouble oh [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] this time that husty Jan's gone just too far call me an eyesore will she and me a treasured aene a present from her husband's own mother well she'll live to regret it time takes care of so many things especially when you're a specialist in time like I am but Jane will never suspect she just won't understand why she's having so much trouble because it's all going to be completely accidental [Applause] [Music] [Music] get out you know get out of here with that dark gun you know I don't allow those things in this house get out of [Music] here oh [Music] what Jane's going to be all right well now that is too bad but I'll work things out these stupid humans they think things are as responsible for accidents material things like that electric cord that caught Jane's foot sometimes they lay their troubles to jump piled on the stairs sometimes it's an iron on a shelf other times ice on the sidewalk unlabeled bottles in the Medicine Chest a bed rung in a ladder on the stove really of course any Clark knows its people who bring on accidents the kind of people who don't know how to handle their emotions that awful Martha but I fixed her once I found that feelings were the key it was so easy same with Ed Carwell he didn't like anyone calling him a grease monkey and he certainly didn't know how to handle his [Music] feelings no question about the tie up between Eddie's feelings and that broken hand same way with Martha in her wedding ring that Rings a symbol to Martha a symbol for everything she hoped she'd find in marriage only fool that she is human as she is she married Jeff hover and Jeff's First Love was always the bottle so Martha Waits at home and twists her ring that's the way it is with these crazy humans tension keeps boiling up in them like the soup in Martha's sapin it's always been right there primed in waiting for the moment when they bump up against a dangerous situation and when they do well chalk up another accident why why because emotions distract of course those boiling feelings they take people's minds off dangerous situations and when that happens it's just a matter of time until disaster strikes like with Martha if she stops to think about it she knows hot soup can scald and that it's important to be careful in the kitchen but here it is nearly 7:30 that means Jeff stopped off at Jack's Place so Martha's all upset and angry she doesn't know what to do and not knowing she's blinded by the boiling up of her emotions those feelings of hers they distract her from the dangers of stoves and pans and boiling soup Jeff's problem isn't quite the same as Martha's whiskey isn't really at the heart of it either you see back when he was younger he got all in a swivet over her well over part of her anyway [Music] so they were married only then Jeff found out there was just one thing wrong with Martha she didn't have anything in that pretty head of hers but Buck we batter that's when Jeff really started hitting the bottle he knows it is isn't Martha's thought she's stupid but she just plain pours him to tears trouble is boredoms a distraction too if you're living in a dream world you can't pay attention to reality and that gives accidents a chance to [Music] happen Jeff didn't die but if he had the preacher likely would have called it a tragic accident even though the certificate should have read died of boredom not all distractions are inside people of course lots of them come from outside if it hadn't been for the phone ringing nothing might ever have happened to that angely [Music] woman poor Mrs Angley she did wonder what that phone call was about even when it looks like a distractions all outside more often or not there are still some feelings mixed in somewhere like Sid he claimed it was an accident when Patty banged her head actually things were tight at the shop when Sid tried to unload his tensions with silly horse playay Patty got hurt oh look at Jane because those two brats of hers were blowing off steam all out of control she fell [Music] [Music] down it needn't have happened of course not if that idiot female had showed a grain of Common Sense after all you only have to pay attention to three simple rues to put an end to accidents in any [Music] home one pay attention to your feelings [Music] [Music] two beware of [Music] boredom 3 watch out for dangerous situations that's all there is to it but how many humans are smart enough to follow the rules like with Jane she knows she gets tense and on edge on cleaning day so she ought to pay signs all around in her head in Big Red Letters slow down watch out don't rush into anything all right you kids you know the rules about those dark guns but of course handling it like that would have been too intelligent for a human same way with cleaning it bores Jane worse than anything she does that's why it makes her edgy so you'd think she'd have sense enough to change jobs often take a break try something more interesting for a while work a little on her new dress maybe you see now is the time to finish the cleaning after she's calmed down of course it was a good idea to get Ted and water out of the living room that electric cord made it a dangerous situation all right you kids out out out Jane wasn't that smart though so now she has a wrenched back and she'll have more before I'm through with her call me an eyesore will she no no J what is it what's wrong what is it take it easy she must have been having a nightmare oh if it only was a dream yes you can't imagine it's that clock in the living room you know we've been over that confounded clock a dozen times we can't get rid of it my mother would have a fit but it's a lie talking to me talking me it hates me that's why I had this accident and it says I'll keep on having them must be those pills the doctor gave you they just imagining things no mil that clock talked it did it did she's so right of course but she won't get anyone to believe her and by the time she's up and about she won't be sure of anything herself but she will keep having accidents she can count on that well Jane it's good to see you up can't get you down until you're up you know now we need to set the stage for that next accident make it seem properly accidental tiger here should do nicely to trip over a little temper will help too what's going on around here this morning aren't you going to get me any breakfast well your majesty maybe it's just about time you got your own breakfast now an outside distraction to get things moving here we go Jane did you learn anything from that last time you had an accident what are you talking about let go of me you Big B you know what I mean you're a to break your neck if you go charging out of here in all directions please honey mil I must be crazy and after that Nightmare and all those good resolutions I made about being careful thanks M oh you crazy dog do you want someone to fall over you isn't that enough to give you fits but I can afford a few slips time still on my side maybe I can do better here in the kitchen [Music] [Music] hi M this is Jane Dave why don't come over and have a cup of coffee with me I've been cleaning this house all day and I'm just about to go out of my mind okay say bring that new pattern of yours I'd like to look it in okay I'll see you in a little while [Music] bye why I don't believe it don't tell me that girl's beginning to use her head well I'll get her yet a dog and a cat on Sunday morning might just turn the trick that's it Okay girl okay hey Jane what gear oh Tiger has a cat up the but you know I guess I'm getting smart in my old age you'll just have to learn about cats on his own cuz I'm not about to go charging out there in my night clothes so there you aiur aren't you disappointed come on back to bed you ker I that insolent young Jezebel I'll teach her bang bang bang bang bang I got you come on draw well I don't know all right now Ted you remember what Mom said oh you Dro that's it boy yeah I did I did I did w give me that gun get my Springs my gears my face oh why was I such a fool I'm as bad as that stupid female Jane worse even because I knew better but I hated her so I didn't even take my own advice I let my feelings run away with me just as if I were human so now there will be another clock here taking my place my place and me a treasured heirloom gift of mil's own mother why did I ever interfere when I knew that accident are bound to happen when you take time out for trouble [Music] [Applause] [Music] h [Music] whoa that was awesome I'd like to pretend like the the person playing the Oran was the woman from uh Carnival of Souls that she's in hell and she's playing the organ uh for this um demonic clock I love the fact that the clock was actually uh destroyed at the end um so good uh boy let me see I I have what do I have set up here let me see no I I kind kind of ran out of time scheduling stuff so let me see really quick no I think I got scheduled here is too long um so I think I'm going to call it a little bit early today but Kevin thank you so much for donating via the super thanks uh option or the chat option in YouTube that's a great way to support us and uh that's how we um help pay for our uh rental costs uh we have seven storage units filled with over 37,000 16 mm prints um they're not at our archive now our archive is being renovated so that we can move all that stuff back so that we can start doing shows back um that's why I'm outside and not in the archive with a scanner behind me like normally but um yeah that any little bit helps um you know I uh happy to be showing you stuff I very much enjoy your time uh your time you giving your time to me uh and this is why we do what we do is occasionally running across these films which are just over the top a woman being terrorized by a heirloom clock um yeah so join us tomorrow tomorrow is Friday and uh we'll watch some more films together uh very much enjoy your comments uh we love you guys uh this is what I found out yesterday having a long hug with somebody is wonderful the longer the better just a long just hold hold somebody I mean I have a wife who I you know can hug but taking that time sometimes you forget and so taking that time and hugging somebody I got to recommend it uh it's beginning to sprinkle here so I think uh I'm going to go everybody have a great rest of your day and uh we will see you soon um otherwis you can support us real quick thumbs up like uh even if you've done it recently do it again uh also we've been uploading we try to get like 20 or 30 new films online that we
