Hello everybody. This is Skip Alzheimer. Welcome to the AV Geeks Lunchtime streaming show where we are moving equipment um from my basement to the archive. And so there's going to be a lot of back and forth uh etc. So, um yeah, I'm gonna yesterday. So, I showed that PSA um at the beginning without any sound because it didn't have any sound. Uh which would just have added compounded to the fact that yesterday's uh show that was egg themed had all sorts of problems. Every single film I showed had a problem. So, uh of course that one had no sound. So, that's more problems. Um so, today we're going to just go with music. And so, um, I've shown this film, but I showed a different version, a copy of it that was cut up. This one is a better copy and actually has a whole musical number that, uh, we missed the other copy. So, this is Tom, Dick, and Harriet, uh, featuring Jim Bakus and some other folks. Enjoy. >> The bells are ringing. [singing] Hearts are [music] singing to the telephone. It's also the story of Harriet's dad, who thinks all this NEW FANGLED NONSENSE IS BAD. HER MOTHER knows better. But what can she do? She feels she's been left with all the responsibility. >> But she's right there. We're 700 miles away. I can't sell the farm from here. >> Garber buys it. You have nothing to worry about. >> I know. I know. But now he wants to know about the wood lot. >> He saw the place. >> Yes, but he didn't get back to the woods. Well, I'll just drop him a note and tell her to tell him that we've got a good wood lot. >> Dear, don't you think you ought to telephone her? >> Oh, a letter will get there tomorrow or the next day. >> Maybe there'll be other questions. And anyway, it'll make aunt Emily feel better. Hm. >> No, I'll just put it in the letter. I've uh just got time to write it before the boys get here. And >> hi. >> Oh, hello, darling. >> Hello, dear. Oh, you have a letter here from Dick. >> He writes you regularly, doesn't he? He doesn't spend his money on long distance. >> Did Tom phone again? >> It's probably him. You're supposed to call operator 621 Kansas City. >> I'll get it in my room. >> Kansas City? I didn't even know he was there. >> Anyway, Tom knows how to stir people up. >> Who beats me? What can they say to each other that's worth calling long distance? Money he spends, he could buy his own pigeon. [laughter] >> I miss you so much it hurts. What are you wearing right now? >> What am I wearing? Uh, do you remember that? That blue and green polka dot dress. You've seen it a dozen times. >> I can hardly wait to see it again. You know, I think about you all the time. You miss me? >> You know I do. When are you coming home? >> I'm not sure yet. I'm working on something. Can't tell you now, but I'll know by next Friday. Okay, so yesterday I was scanning a big reel of soundies. And soundies are kind of a precursor to music videos. Um, there used to be this machine called a panoram machine that uh, nightclubs, bars would have and it would be kind of a visual jukebox and you put a nickel or a dime in and then it plays a song and it plays whatever's next in the reel and it's an endless loop uh, that has I don't know how many songs had in it, but this is a way to not have to pay for uh, a band uh, or a jukebox. box. And hopefully um let me show you right real quick. like hopefully uh we will have the scanner so we can do actual live uh scanning. Um so I'm just kind of taking you around right now the space.
