Description: Directed by Harold Butler, the 1976 film "At the Cuero Turkey Trot" chronicles the Cuero Turkey Trot, now called the Cuero Turkeyfest. The film features Turkey Trot footage and interviews with people who share their memories about the early years of the Cuero Turkey Trot. The history of the Turkey Trot and Cuero’s ascension to Turkey Capital of the World are detailed in an interview with resident Sheree Ernster. She discusses the festivities involved with the 1970s Turkeyfest, accompanied by footage of turkey races, festival-goers and events such as corn spitting and turkey egg throwing. Also included are interviews with a turkey farmer, men cooking "turkey fries," (fried turkey testicles) and footage of Miss South Texas Karen Luddeke, as well as Senator Lloyd Bentsen. Of special interest is an interview with Ann Hamilton, crowned Sultana of the third annual Turkey Trot in 1920.
