[Music] Army on the Move in terms of sheer Beauty the surface of our planet has much to offer an infinite variety of scenic wond but this same Beauty viewed in terms of military necessity takes on a very different aspect to a mobile Army this Scenic Wonderland has another name terrain the impersonal but unforgiving tyranny of terrain is one which armies have struggled against since armies began but today the United States Army is doing much to break the bonds with which hostile terrain has hobbled armies of the past today Army must have surface Mobility unknown in the past tough versatile armor that can swim across Inland water barriers and once across can move with swift reliability Overland reconing the strength of an aggressor carrying fighting men into battle armor with greater range more powerful guns able to move farther and faster under worse conditions than armor of 5 years [Music] ago power maneuverability speed reliability these the mechanized cavalry of mid 20th century must have wheeled vehicles too face the new demands and here is the kind of answer that is being worked out six-wheel drive tremendous flexibility and traction a new step toward freedom from the tyranny of terrain no longer can we accept delays in putting faeries and bridges into action for a fighting Army on the [Music] move one answer self-contained mobile salt units which can combine to provide fast-moving ferry service in a matter of minutes these same units can also as the need arises join up to form a heavyduty bridge overcoming another of Nature's military roadblocks another Bridge of a different kind is here in the Army's air Mobility a bridge designed to span surface obstacles giving New Freedom and scope to Tactical maneuver to resupply to vital Battlefield surveillance and to the delivery of decisive force with sudden tactical surprise all this to support the ground combat Soldier aircraft here equipped with wing tip fuel tanks can Flash in low for Battlefield surveillance at Treetop [Music] level aircraft designed to resupply you unit in combat with the least possible [Music] delay versatile Workhorse helicopters lifting men in minutes over miles of terrain which a few years ago would have meant days of marching delivering them fast fresh and ready to fight delivering them on the Target or if Terrain makes that impossible delivering them above the [Music] target the Army's wide variety of helicopters is the the result of long and careful planning each one is designed to fill a specific Mobility need for the army of [Music] today meantime the air mobility of tomorrow's Army cannot be neglected testing and evaluation go on of helicopter designs which show promise of still greater lift capacity range flexibility reliability [Music] all of this has one purpose and one purpose only to give this man the American combat Soldier greater Effectiveness in his job of Defending American freedom for this man's tomorrow nothing can be assumed impossible every Mobility potential must be and will be explored by the United States Army an Army on the move [Music]
