to start with yeah a girl you'd be proud to be [Applause] with and here is Jenny she thinks having dates with many boys is the key to popularity I had her all last night who hasn't you and a dozen others what about Jenny does she have the key to popularity do boys really like her is she welcome to join their group when they are with other girls or when they are in public places hello Wy hi Bill about you Wally how are you fit in all this oh I'm a oneman team that does a job with no glory attached I gather all the props and man what a headache you sound like you need a helper could I lend a hand would you really boy I sure need help I don't know anything about prop but I could learn I need some help too have you ever been in a CL play yes one or two but I never help with pre Carolyn doesn't tell them she had the lead in her school play last year that might sound like bragging besides it might make Betty fear competition yeah how about helping with the makeup hey hey lay off I saw our first Carolyn is careful too about competing with another girl over a boy that girl likes see in math class see gin we ought to get together and talk over those props a little could you meet me backstage at about 3:15 that would be fine W okay okay we'll see you then I think maybe I'll take Caroline to the dance Saturday night fine go ahead and ask her maybe we can work out a double date ah later Saturday's soon enough hello oh hello w-e I I was wondering if you'd like to go to the Strand Saturday night and see a movie and then go over the teen Town afterward maybe that sounds like loads of fun I'd like to go what time should I be ready Wally has given some thought to his invitation he has considered what Carolyn might like and he has been specific implying his price range so that Carolyn will have some idea of what he can afford Carolyn likes it better this way too it's doing the girl no favor to leave the planning of a date entirely up to her that would put her on the spot I'm Saturday at 7 bye well that phone call didn't go on for hours a pretty sensible attitude after all others may want to use the phone or someone might be trying to call in Carolyn keeps a date calendar not a bad idea she'll never have the embarrassment of forgetting a date or of not being ready it isn't sophisticated to keep a date waiting it's inconsiderate do hair and nails that's a good note to write yourself any night but especially when you're getting ready for a Saturday night date as Carolyn and Ellie are doing there you who can do a manicure Ally and I'd even know what to wear with it tonight if I knew whether Billa dug up transportation to the damn are you sure he knew to phone you here at my house I told him three times I'll have to be getting home to dinner pretty soon take my advice Carolyn think twice before you start going steady don't you ever go out with anyone else no don't you ever want to on nights like this I do I never know what he's planned here always is you decide Ellie I think you'd run out of ideas well I'm getting to that point or rather I'm beginning to get the idea that going steady isn't such a good idea hello oh hello Jerry oh the props are it though Carolyn hunted up a lot of things we couldn't find any place here I am off set well Carolyn I made some brownies today maybe you and Wally would like some when you return there's some milk in the ice box too isn't there how's that sound fine we'll take you up on that Mrs ases thanks Carolyn and her mother have found one way a girl can repay a boy for entertaining her a bite to eat at her house will save him money perhaps they will bring another couple home with them that would be fun you folks know what time we'll be in we'll be home around 11: mother Wally and Carolyn are spared the embarrassment of arguments and warnings about coming in at night that was settled By Carolyn and her mother before Wally arrived the the hour was decided after considering such things as where Carolyn and Wally are going on the date whether tomorrow is a school day and how many dates she has had recently you have your key [Music] dear the family knows Carolyn will stick to her words I have fun you two we will I'll get her back on time goodbye goodbye bye night Wally felt at ease with carollyn parents and will be glad to return to her home where he felt welcome they liked him too he is proud to be with Carolyn because she is attractive and dresses well is friendly with everyone and is considerate of their feelings she likes him for these same reasons and also because he is fun to be with home parents and personality all help boys and girls to be popular [Music]
