Description: Tells of the struggle across the Weddell Sea made by 'THERON' with the Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition's advance party of eight men in 1956 to establish a base at Shackleton. The next year, Sir Vivian Fuchs led the main crossing party there while Sir Edmund Hillary and the expedition's support party were training in New Zealand.
