Description: Shows the great assembly of sculpture--a whole metropolis of palaces and temples--which stands at Angkor, recovered from the jungle which hid it for centuries. Six hundred monuments reveal the glories of the past empire of the Khmers, Angkor Wat, a temple of grey sandstone almost a mile square, attest to the fact that civilizations are not eternal, but are born, flourish for a time, then pass away.
