MIRC is proud to present Anderson’s Our Gang Comedy, a 1926 local amateur film from Anderson, SC being preserved at MIRC. This charming parody features local children and was created by filmmakers Sammy Fox and R.R. Beatty, who collaborated with Perry C. Osteen, owner of the Egyptian Theatre in Anderson. The film captures the spirit of Hal Roach’s popular Our Gang comedies, with nearly every kid in Anderson participating in the three-day shoot, including two of the Osteen family boys. We are presenting this to celebrate Amateur Movie Day which honors non-professional filmmaking worldwide, featuring screenings, community productions, and film preservation efforts.
