Remnants of ancient Rome-the Appian Way, the Colosseum, Domitian’s Palace, the Forum, and the Sacra Via-come alive in this revised edition, recalling an ancient culture that has made many contributions to western civilization in fields such as civil law, architecture, and engineering. Ancient Rome presents a magnificent city contrasted with its slums- its rich with its poor and its greatness with its problems -and provides the students with a well-rounded view of the city that was Rome.
