Description: An introduction to the art of the main cultures of pre-Columbian Peru, using ruins and various objects dug out by archaeologists to revive the achievements of 3,000 years of Peruvian civilization. Includes symbolic carvings of the Feline God at Chavin, ceramic cultures of Mochica and Chimu in the north and of Nazca in the south, and textiles which show a unique variety of techniques and decoration. Uses Mochican painted and modeled ceramics to illustrate conspicuous aspects of everyday life in ancient Peru.
