The diverse colonies are drawn together in many common complaints against England. The many contributing factors that brought about these complaints--blunders in London, inept colonial governors, costly British frontier wars with the French, the Stamp Act, and the denial of rights to colonize beyond the Appalachians--are dramatized by Cooke. The events leading to the Boston Massacre, the Boston Tea Party, and the forming of the Committees of Correspondence are discussed.
