A politician leaves a plane, greeted by a cheering crown. Election of Algeria’s second president, driving in the streets to cheering crowds. More parades. Shots of more industrial work in factories. Shots of music and dancing. Shots of Muslim men praying in mosque, voiceover describing the importance of Islam in Algeria. Voiceover describes how Islam “portrays” men as “dominant” with a shot of men outside playing dominoes. Shots of young men and women discussing gender equality. Women doing housework - hanging up laundry, cooking, watching children. A woman covers herself before going out - completely covered besides her eyes - and walks the streets. An Algerian woman’s voiceover describes the gender inequality she faces. A group of men in suits pore over bureaucratic forms while a woman waits in the corner.
