Description: Dr Nevitt Sanford discusses the cultural ambivalence in America resulting from the lack of agreed folkways with respect to drinking. He utilizes three categories of drinking behavior applicable to groups or individuals--integrative, facilitative and escapist. He believes drinking cannot be evaluated morally or psychologically without a consideration of context.
