An aircraft and mission for tomorrow’s Air Force--The KC-10 “Extender.” Built by McDonnell Douglas for SAC, the KC-10 has a versatility that will be a welcome addition to the present Air Force inventory. Computer-assisted flight and navigation systems, along with numerous sophisticated improvements at the boom operator’s station make this aircraft most unique. It will supplement the KC-135 with twice the refueling capacity, allowing fighters to spend extended time in forward battle areas.
