AIDS (revised edition)

In this updated version to the film AIDS, students ask questions about the transmission of the disease, its symptoms, and who is at risk. Doctors and educators, aided by computer animation, describe the immune system and how the AIDS virus affects it. Experts describe the test used to detect antibodies to the AIDS virus; blood used in hospitals is now screened for the presence of AIDS. Ally Sheedy asks viewers to take a responsible part in stopping the spread of AIDS. Health educators emphasize that the surest and most effective prevention is by abstaining from sex. For those who do choose to have sex, condoms can be an effective barrier, although they are not 100% effective.
