Description: An over-all view of the various types of map projection, and the advantages and disadvantages of each. Animated maps, combined with commentary, explain gnomonic projection, Mercator projection, and Lambert conformal projection and their relation to aviation navigation. The final sequence of the picture is a discussion of the variation in compass readings caused by the location of the north magnetic pole in relationship to the true north pole, and caused by magnetic deviations due to the metal of the airplane.
