Complete Record: Tournament of Roses in sunny Southern California. It’s time for the 70th annual festival of roses, girls. LS of fields of flowers as well as nice scenic shots of California landscape. LS of room filled with floats that are covered in flowers. People are working on them and the judges examine them. Cool shot of guy in mask welding something together, sparks and all. MS of young woman “Rose Queen” (Pamela....) in glamour pose. Pamela is back on stage all decked out in virginal white, clutching a bouquet of roses. LS of entire stage where other women sit. MS of Pamela with sparkling crown. LS of crowd of people who have slept out in hopes of catching a good seat for the parade. Hop Along, Roy Rogers makes an appearance and signs autographs. Photographers are constant (motion and still). POV shot from car down the street lined with people. LS of crowd and opening of the parade. Baton girls and bands are rampant. Old convertibles decorated with flowers carry important people by. Big white float carries the Rose Queen and her subjects. Iowa State marching band. Horses. More floats. Floral elephant float that wiggles his ears and walks. Zorro. Circus floats. Bill Boyd (horse guy). Indians dancing and marching. New float for Alaska to welcome them to the United States. (“There are polar bears in the US now!”) The parade is over. Camera pans over hundreds of fresh flowers.
