[Music] [Applause] pictures a far of happy hours memories Bloom and fade like flowers echoing sounds of distant laughter days when the world was turning faster the days when everything seemed clear and clean and bright do you remember the way of life we didn't see a change of weather surely the spring would last forever it would have seemed a blasphemy to think about and no doin still the cold hands of the clock beholding us so tight taking us away from the way of life the hours and days and weeks and months and years roll on as in substantial as the EOS of the song that's the time when memories can give the last twist to the night as you remember a way of life everything seems to go so fast how quickly your futures in the past still you can say with reservations being adult has compensations suppose you should be grateful that it's all worked out all right you got a way of living a way Liv you got a way of living a way of living you got a way of living a way of life [Music] 23 Street Lane please fine up for [Music] [Music] it's impossible to say Mr Harrison until you've undergone some tests but as this is the third time you've had one of these turns I'm recommending that you you go to hospital for the tests well it'll probably mean staying in for a couple of days but after that we'll know exactly what's wrong with [Applause] you 75 P what's name uh Harrison Jack Harrison and you have one address Mr Harrison uh 92 Temple Park Crescent what's your date of PR uh 7845 are you married yeah are you on the telephone at home yeah uh 229 318 that's fine if you go down the main Corridor turn second on the right and up the stairs okay down here down the main Corridor second on the right okay Mrs Harrison yes if you'd like to see your husband briefly now and then pop back tomorrow we should have some more news for you by then what's the matter with him well now that he's here we'll soon find out how long are you going to keep him in well no long I shouldn't think but we'll know more after we've done some tests okay would you like to come and see s what did they say nothing yeah I've only just arrived they're not going to keep you in long are they no way let them play about with the little ties and there me off this is a fine time for this to happen just after the baby okay I didn't plan it anyway it's probably just my eyes too much driving I probably need glasses that will improve your looks no and that thank you very much well look after yourself Jack [Music] bye do you feel any tummy pain or tenderness no yeah yeah it's a bit up it's all these nsis that's my name at 159 okay good thanks hello what did they say nothing yet oh he's fine but then he recognizes his aunt's sure touch quite so you like some tea well everything's ready in there the should be boiling he looks a bit piy I thought but I can't understand why they whisk him into hospital when he's never been ill in his life D can't be too serious coming out to the blue like that no they probably just need somebody to practice on yes when's he coming out well he's coming out tomorrow he says but he can't stay off work much longer than a couple of days it's not as if he gets paid when he's off good morning Mr Harrison oh morning morning Mr Harrison how are you feeling fine fine that's good all in order eh sorry for having wasted your time I'll just slink off now well I'm sorry to say that we went to hang on to you for a we while yet why well you initially we can say you're suffing from hypertension that's high blood pressure so we want to start treating you for that right away and we want to take some more tests to be sure there's no other problems you're a taxi driver eh yeah that's right so do you get much exercise no not a lot I used to play football right enough but uh I gave it up though it gave me up but not much anymore no I don't have much t really you know I've got to keep working just to keep going we just had a baby see you work long hours yeah pretty long night shift you know right through drink not a lot not a lot well how much would you say well uh couple of pints of lunchtime a few jars in the evening when I'm not driving that is M food s nice to you pop and where have you been I've been on the what's the matter oh it's my brother Jack he's going to stay in hospital another 3 weeks but what's wrong with him well they say it's high blood pressure B on the old F like that well Jack's no chicken is he on [Music] it wo wo well Mr Harrison the only reason we can find for your high blood pressure is your weight of course we could control it with drugs but if you don't lose weight now you may well end up a permanent invilet at best I'm not that bad surely well unfortunately too many people think that the only reason to lose weight is to look more attract but if you could see your heart you'd realize it's not just a matter of looks being fat invites serious heart disease and heart disease can kill nor is it just a matter of dying the fat person's life can be extremely unpleasant and you may not discover that until it's too late for instance if you're prone to diabetes and you may be without knowing it being fat can bring it on earlier and more severely than if your weight is normal you just have to talk to people who are fat to realize just how bad the problem can be I woke up crying one morning I had wored about it in my sleep or something and I woke up the tears were streaming to my face I felt really awful I know that you know if I don't lose weight you know what can happen to you you know and uh all the evil things that are going to come but it's important to sort of live now and you don't really worry about you know 50 years from now I'm going to end up you know having diabetes or heart trouble or what have you fat people hate themselves that's why they get fat I believe I've stopped going out which is ridiculous I'm 30 years old you know I couldn't go shopping you're ruining your own life you don't have a life you've got to sit there and be waited on have people do things you know I want to love a life life I don't want to sit back I couldn't cope on any level it percolates down through your entire life you get over tired you feel unattractive and nothing interests you I hesitate to speak to young people because they think you're just being a silly old bo nobody wants to learn from or my mistakes everybody's got to make their own mistakes don't you think so speaking as a surgeon there is no doubt that surgical risks are greater if the patient is fat operations take much longer which means a longer period under anesthetic the fat layer Under the Skin makes access more difficult and healing afterwards much slower the presence of large accumulations of fat like this naturally make a surgeon's task much more difficult of course people should get that message before they get F that way they won't have to face these problems anyway you'll be seeing a dietitian before you leave the hospital and she'll be able to go over with you in detail how to set about eating more sensive all right thanks very much okay the signs are he already putting a considerable strain on his heart he has a slightly weak heart anyway and if he goes on carrying that weight the first attack could well be along pretty soon it's like carrying a heavy Ru sck everywhere he goes he's used to being fat the fact is he's digging his own grave with his knife and fork he just eats too much yes but his particular metabolism puts more on than it takes off course they may never see the truth in that I don't actually eat all that much well you don't eat a lot in the sense of large meals but all those little extras the sweets and the chocolates and the cakes and the beer they all add up to a considerably larger intake than you can possibly burn off in a day so the thing is not to think in terms of going on a diet but rather to think in terms of changing your eating habits well let me tell you the sort of thing I mean first eat breakfast don't settle for a cup of tea have an egg a slice of toast then have meals at meal times it's the little extras that pile on the calories you know meaning that you take more in than you burn off it's that difference that makes you fat have your midm morning break but stick to a cup of tea and a biscuit and then at lunchtime what may seem to be just a snack could be calorie Dynamite compared with a well balanced meal your total calorie intake can be greatly reduced by some simple changes in habit you can still eat normally but avoid the items that stack the odds against you your evening meal can be just as hearty without the fried food and pastry remember it's what you don't need that makes you fat and at the end of the day you could save yourself oh over 2,000 calories we're not looking for a miracle cure just a steady reduction in weight and we'll achieve that by a change in your eating habits not by starvation or crash dieting weight reduction plan this is going to be very easy right inside our price bracket too we can have as much Partridge or pheasant or oysters or salmon or venison as we like there's a leather jacket here could do with that my old's getting a bit past it rather selective reading if you don't mind my saying so it strikes me that the diet doesn't have to be any more expensive it is not a diet it's a new way of life and what's wrong with that the old one wasn't exactly an unqualified success thank you very much I'll end up slim and miserable not so much as a paint with the bar and at least he won't be as miserable as he usually are the morning after stop getting at the guessing at you I mean I'm going to do it as well you're not fat put on half a stone since the baby was born since when did you become an expert come on Jack what's the harm in trying I mean it makes sense even to me it's not exactly your problem is it but that's because I'm so young and beautiful just think I could look like in 50 years time when I'm your age all right all right I'll give it a try just so long as no one suggests starving the baby no one's going to starve the baby but it's not going to end up a big fat lump like you a slim young man in my life here with like a half pint of ler and a p of L IM very funny right thanks Mar Cheers Cheers how long you going to stick to half points then I'll probably get off it completely you know yeah take up things like Slimline tonics and maybe play a bit of football again ehh best of luck may as well give it a try still one yeah that's £9 of L long way to go though see you still at it then yeah lost a stone so far very good how'd you feel it's all right wife keeps me at it she's in the same game herself I missed the odd chocolate bar pie and chips at lunchtime 14 12 4 months I'm still not skinny not bad though jck oh dear Maybe nice perhaps are we treat for being a good boy no one will know the OD cake won't make any difference why should I be different from everyone else it's easy for everyone else to talk it isn't their problem what the hell it's not a problem problem anyway I'm meant to be fat after all and Happy oops well that's the last time I come to this place coming swimming tomorrow Jack no way I'm going to the match that is if I finished the household chores goes on and on about that every week he does two hours while I go to the gym that's all she's developing muscles like a heavy sorry lightweight boxer well a little bit of exercise wouldn't do you any harm I had enough of that when I was a kid can't go on playing football all your life [Music] good morning big brother [Music] [Music] yeah are woman's work is never done you think you've got problems uh one or two chocolate bars not for me for a friend I light yeah anym where's the baby I was out there oh my God h [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music]
