Platoon of Texas Division of the Texas Division in 1943. Platoon leader Lieutenant Rand is wounded by a shell fragment that destroys half of his face. Sergeant Pete Halverson and Sgt. Eddie Porter take over command of the platoon. The men are sent into the woods to protect them from enemy aircraft. They are led to their objective, a bridge that they are to blow up near a farmhouse.
