do so so so hello everybody this is skip alzheimer and welcome to our av geeks lunchtime streaming show where we watch old 16 millimeter films um from our past uh and that last film was it was interesting this showed up in a school uh whose collection i acquired i was like what there was no real label on it uh and it was apollo 12 footage um and some people noticed like wow some of the footage was smooth and some of it was kind of jerky it's because um they would shoot different cameras would shoot at different frame rates to conserve film so when they're walking on the moon um it might be at a different frame rate than other other times um so it's kind of all over the place but um yeah there's lots and lots of that footage exists at nasa and ultimately national archives there's a bunch of stuff um and i don't know if you've ever gone to an exhibit where they uh printed the hasselblad hasselblad that's not right the camera well anyways they had these big uh medium format cameras that they would shoot um still photos with and um there was i saw an exhibit was it the air and space museum but it was basically prints made from those original negatives and they were stunning it was amazingly sharp beautiful beautiful footage and stuff um and what we see is oftentimes a copy of a copy of a copy so um if you're ever in that part of town or if you ever hear about like some of the original uh seeing some of the original prints made from the original negatives check it out because it is really beautiful um anyway so we watch old 60 millimeter films and you guys seem to like watching them so i guess that's what we're going to do now there's a couple of films that i've got queued up here where i'm surprised i haven't shown them so this next one it's totally possible i might have shown this one and the reason why is because i love showing this film and i just looked in the notes and i was like huh i don't think i've shown this i think this one fell through the cracks um but if i had shown it and just not documented it it would have been shown a long time ago um and i this is a great film made by coronet films and it's made for girls and it's on how to get dates now what's interesting is there's another film are you popular that came out around the same time that um warns girls about getting too many dates so there's this weird kind of thing and kaye seems to be constantly on the hustle for getting dates it's it's outrageous how many dates she wants to get so here's more dates for kay and i again i apologize if you've seen it before but it's so great here we go [Music] hello may i please speak to mary oh it's you mary this is alice look up are you going out anywhere tonight well i i don't care much about going out i know i don't have a date either would you like to go to a movie with thanks alice but i i don't feel like it tonight sure but well no i i i just don't feel like it bye gee i see you got some new records who was it alice why don't you go with her i can't stay very long anyway you don't have to i don't need a babysitter who's this you know i didn't mean that it's just well with mom and dad going out and hey babysitter i need one a week from tonight next saturday could you no okay if you've got a date or i don't have a date just that i don't want to take any chances all right honey i'll find someone else you just think you will everybody's busy on saturday nights but me don't try to tell me you ever sat at home either yes mary i i did sit home sometimes i've had my share of dating slumps every girl has you know something mary there were lots of times that i can remember when you and i and mom and dad stayed home and played games and mom would make popcorn it wasn't so bad other saturdays some of the girls would get together and spend the night i remember one time three of us went down to the snack bar for a bite there were lots of kids there and that was kind of fun oh yes mary i've had dateless saturdays but i didn't sit around moping i had friends i guess you do too well you you must have done something about getting some dates yes just getting around with my girlfriend's help you know mary there's a girl who sits for me sometimes when you're busy kay is quite a girl sometimes she amazes me she never lets anything get the best of her i've noticed that when she gets into a dating slump she she has her own little system for getting over it no mistake well maybe you get some ideas if i told you what k did not long ago the first thing was to make sure that her personal grooming wouldn't keep her from getting dates you know what to do she started the day with a bath she brushed her teeth regularly to help keep her breath fresh she used a good underarm deodorant that sort of thing that's important but i don't think katie'd have worried quite so much another very important thing to kay was the kind of clothes she wore kay dressed neatly grooming herself well but she learned not to overdress just simple sensible clothes for school that's basic look your best but don't look flesh you know the next thing kate did was to build herself up a long list of prospects she really went out of her way to make friends with boys oh ellen can you get my history book down for me up there sure thanks a lot ella okay oh hello how'd your game come out friday you know the intramural oh we won good i'm glad let me know when your next game is i'd like to watch your play sure well oh hi chuck i didn't notice you're sitting there did you get your reading done for today wasn't that an awful assignment i didn't translate one page of it harry this is k i uh well i'm working on my latin and i'm having trouble you're always so good at it couldn't we i mean would you like to help me sure see it study period tomorrow tomorrow thanks a lot harry yeah that's well oh excuse me okay i'm reading here i'm all right what are you reading that's so interesting oh just a story about a dog oh i'd like to read it can i borrow that magazine when you're through with it sure glad to do you have a dog no we can't keep one while we live oh say you know butch would like you a lot he goes for men butch oh your dog i've seen you walking with him uh are you going down this way yes i have to talk to miss green i'll come along with you as well well as i said kay got busy making friends with everyone particularly the boys and letting them know she was fun to know she found out that just being where the gang was was a big help so she began to have quite a few dating prospects well i don't know if i could do all those things after all that was going pretty far to call up that boy well i didn't say i approved of everything kay did nor did i say everything worked well for in fact she didn't seem to be getting any place and until she decided to put herself out a little for others yeah all lined up for the party all except for the cleanup committee i i just can't get anybody to do the dirty work what dirty work can i help well it's the cleanup committee i don't know if you'd i'll do it someone has to clean up after a party i'll be glad to well then you're chairman thanks let me know when i'm supposed to get busy oh and i may have to ask you for some help put me on that committee too pal oh excuse me oh hi sis hi you know buzz here don't you sure hello buzz hey i'm helping him do his history he's gonna help me with those math problems oh do you like math buzz it's all right but i'm going to fix myself a snack anybody else care for a sandwich well sure that'd be swell thanks a lot sis all right anyway getting back here it says no man should continue to give himself to another man um do you think we'll win the game saturday maybe it'll be it'll be a close she tried out helpfulness whenever she could you know doing things for people taking an interesting hello you're new here that's right i'm k stranton oh glad to know you my name is valley williams oh met a real cute girl i know you'd like her yeah who is she valerie williams maybe you've met her brother yeah he's a pretty good guy say you would be wanting a date too would you could be you know grooming and cleanliness and letting the boys know you're around those things are all important but it's the friendliness and interest and helpfulness that really count as i said kay is an amazing girl sometimes she really has something of course that's only the beginning now for example just getting out on that one date with buzz gave kate chances to get other dates i bet she kept working on her other prospects too could be anyway she's usually busy oh once in a while i can get her to sit for me but she has her share of dates too oh my goodness now i do have to get going [Music] hello oh hello alice this is mary well i i just decided that i really would like to go if you and joan are still planning oh good and maybe dolly would like to uh-huh say um how about cooking up something for saturday night some dates i got loads of ideas okay um there's just some awkward uh phrases in there about cleaning up at a party um getting busy um no man should give himself to another man there's it's just a lot of really like huh what was that um but uh it's an interesting film i really like it because it uh what it captures of that time period and you think like why would a school buy a film and show a film to girls about getting dates like what why why does the school care about that in fact don't you think this the school would want to discourage um the flirting and all the you know trying to hook up um at school because isn't that like a major distraction um and uh you know somebody caught in the credits that this was homemaking um and so this is maybe something you know to build to homemaking is not just cooking it's building a solid secure home with support emotional support and picking the right mate so that i have a whole series of films about picking the right mate and the idea back then was you date often and you date different people and you don't go steady because going steady means heavy petting or worse or you might end up getting married and settling for someone who's just not appropriate because you just haven't explored the world and explored different people so we have a lot of films that talk about that and it's kind of interesting um that this film exists it's it's really one of the reasons i collect this next film is animated and uh features a young walter lance famous for woody woodpecker uh working for somebody else and this is also an ad for something so a boy meets dog so [Music] so [Music] we study and recycle and this is how we always start our day out right get out stomach that's the way you should begin a little brushing here and there is beneficial to the hair children now are very wise they do a dental exercise with your fingers not your thumbs practice to massage your guts first above and then be neat takes good care of all your teeth [Music] is come on bobby have a sunday or i can't my father won't want me well then let's go fishing no my father won't let me [Music] oh gosh oh gee you're cute as you can be you poor little dog you come on home with me [Music] my daddy won't let me have a dog i'll clean you up all nice and bright then he'll think you're quite all right soap and water will make you neat then i'm gonna brush your teeth [Music] brush your teeth twice a day keep a while to ck and like my other little chunks you also must massage your gum gum massage bath i told you never to bring a dog into this house get that mud out of here get out of here get out of here you or oh [Music] go to bed without your supper then maybe you'll learn to obey your father it's time you grew up and quit acting like a baby i don't know what's the matter with that boy why when i was a boy i learned [Music] i told him to put those skates away this time i'll teach him a lesson that he won't forget bobby bobby [Music] with being neurotic and erratic he's very childlike in his views he's also charged with steady he's nervous and forbidious his knowledge is insidious in fact his manner is his warriors absolutely hideous lose me i'm going to deserve [Music] he hasn't got a childish brain demands our mental dietal [Music] witness it solemnly swells through your ptolemy tear do you dwell to sell a toot to two dole let it go let it go let it go tell your own voice what the defenders did [Music] he said he isn't he said he kicked him he said he hit him and then he kicked him what an order what's the matter here you can't do that with the idea he hires lawyers that are bums and he don't even miss odds his gun is famously the man has no mentality he spent four years in college but still he has no knowledge but that's no dental knowledge he has no mental knowledge mental dental it's inconsequential he's childlike in his dental knowledge i like in his medical knowledge though he spent four years in college silly try liking his knowledge and we agree he's guilty as can be guilty guilty though he went to college [Music] everybody's [Music] no he gets the youth machine he gets the oath machine he gets the uk [Music] time arch is backwards [Music] oh [Music] wow [Music] he's right bobby's a smart boy he's a regular [Music] so basically an ad for ipana toothbrush um and somebody looked it up on wikipedia and found that it was originally its color and it was supposed to be for theatrical distribution but castle films bought it so because this is yeah this is the only copies i've seen and there's silent copies of this floating around as well that castle did all right so behind me i have a telecini with a film hooked up to it so let's watch help [Music] most of us feel we belong in a neighborhood or a community [Music] many of us have feelings of pride that we're texans or iowans or californians we all think of ourselves as citizens of the united states just as french children feel their ties to france and japanese children to their island homeland once in a while all the people on earth feel that there are ties that bind them all together sometimes people everywhere are happy and excited by the same thing as when earthlings made their first successful journey to the moon sometimes troubles in need bring people together when disaster strikes when people are sick when people need help to grow food or need better houses in schools people from all over the world help to set things right [Music] help to build better houses help to feed the hungry [Music] and help them to be better farmers fighting diseases that once killed millions [Music] building dams so land can get water to grow crops and more homes can have light and power and teaching people how to read and write and just as the people in a neighborhood make life better for themselves by joining together to get things done and the people of the state through their government make life better for themselves and the people of our country through our government make life better for ourselves so the people of the whole world have learned in a few ways to work together for the good of all [Music] wow that was short um yeah so that's what help is and this is a social studies uh film so it's been shown during social studies and social studies you would learn about lots of different things you would learn about um [Music] you know people in your neighborhood people in your community learn about your states you learn about laws you learn about government you learn about the world they learn how to interact with people so it's kind of a general before we start learning about geography and we start learning about history and learning about other things this is a way to kind of introduce you to that and i'm guessing that would probably would have been a third or fourth grade film maybe i'm not sure anyways uh the one thing that i am sure about is that they do not want you to rewind notice do not please do not rewind the film thread carefully on white leader provided for that purpose be sure the film is fitted accurately on the sprocket teeth check thread threading before operating projector stop immediately if any irregularity is detected stop immediately if the sound is not perfect return this slip with this film do not mend with scotch tape and then there's a place for the teacher to sign here at the bottom so there we go trying desperately to head off um teachers wrecking the films um specifically uh substitute teachers who don't really wouldn't get really enough training to learn how to run a projector whereas regular teachers supposedly would um all right this film is made by walter j klein who was a filmmaker in based in north carolina in charlotte north carolina he had an advertising company and he's responsible for advertising chimney rock um texas pete uh and some other clients including i think he started with uh marketing early south of the border but i met him he was retired his sons were running the business uh and he used to make a bunch of what we call sponsored films so he would basically come up with the idea with a film or his sons would they would put together a proposal and then they would shop it around to different sponsors and say all right this film is going to be shown on television this film's going to be shown in classrooms and you'll get advertising for this so if you can put forth this much money this is advertising and you'll also be adding teaching people about different concepts and in this one it's school bus safety these are the guys who did big yellow fellow and this is another school bus film good morning mr johnson and let's see who the sponsor is [Music] currently we have scattered showers dear good morning good morning betsy [Music] karen wake up you're gonna be late for the class [Music] long before my bus passengers woke up this morning i got up dressed ate breakfast and got on my way to school i've been driving buses for 18 years the same system where i went to school as a child good morning mr johnson good morning bob i have a lot on my mind today and every day just like parents and teachers but i'll give all the attention i can to each youngster on my bus what's on my mind is the quality of my driving and what's happening on the road and on my bus this morning [Music] what's on my mind is safety i love my work i enjoy these children some i've known three or four years okay kids no crowding or pushing on the steps yes sir good morning why do i remind you not to crowd or push because i might fall down get hurt right they're quick learners because they see the right and wrong ways of riding the bus 10 times a week why do i tell you to sit down the minute you get on our bus because i might call when you start up right they know to sit down right away and stay seated they know it's best to be quiet and not get into any horseplay that might distract me what do i do when there's horseplay right again [Music] my kids know that safety starts early on the way from home to the bus stop they stay well away from the road facing traffic or on the sidewalk they wear light-colored clothing or reflective material [Music] where's karen uh oh here comes the bus [Music] hold it what must you hold when you get on and off the school bus grab on you are very smart tonight good morning merits is it safe to run to the bus when you're late yeah i'll wait for you so don't run across the street anymore okay okay and if i have to drive off without you that isn't too bad it's better to be late to school and not even come i run in front of a car and get hurt right yes sir i'm sorry hi children what should karen have done this morning that she didn't do walk across the street don't run get up earlier eat a good breakfast look before crossing the road exactly all of us need to get up and plenty of time to eat a good breakfast without rushing then to get our books and lunch and clothing together and say goodbye to our family and walk to the bus stop and line up in plenty of time before i drive up right right right uh [Music] come on with me bus isn't here i'll take you in my car it's right over there [Music] natalie that man bothering you oh there's your bus thank you mr johnson you know i always tell you that our bus was like a school on wheels right well we've learned something again today the man you talked with had no business being around our school bus stop or talking with natalie you ever seen him before natalie yes they're at the grocery store well whether you've seen a grown up before or not use your head when someone comes up to you in the way of this bus or on the way home the most people we meet in life are good people worth knowing but there are some folks that do crazy things and i don't want crazy things to happen to my little friends if you ever feel something bad is going to happen go right ahead and yell and run that's good okay oh natalie you tell your parents about this this afternoon okay and i'll report it too [Music] [Music] here he comes [Music] michael don't ever crawl under the bus all right young people what did you just see that boy kicked his lunch box under the bus then he crawled onto the bus he shouldn't have done that the kids called the driver and the driver came out of the bus you are all very good students this morning so we saw a bad thing happening and we saw good things happening didn't we now the boy should never have crawled under the bus why the bus could run over him yes now the other students did just right they told the driver quickly you think that little boy will ever crawl under a school bus again [Music] i really want my passengers to know about bus safety i think it will help them all their lives especially when they grow up and start driving their own cars it's seven times safer to ride in the school bus than their own family car [Music] we bus drivers need everyone's help to keep our school buses safe [Music] i make them aware that one out of every three american school children rides a school bus i ask them to use their heads to develop good judgment about when to cross the road and when to report something happening on the bus that they think should not be happening [Music] mr johnson johnny spilled the bubbles now we are losing important minutes because of this little problem that is a very good reason not to play with things on the bus that can cause a problem this four of ours needs to be kept clean and dry all the time doesn't it yes sir inside folks you can get hurt very badly sticking your hands and arms outside the window don't even stick the tip of your finger out could you give me some more bubbles nope we only stop where we're supposed to and we mustn't let our things get in the way we might stumble over them and fall and we know that don't we [Music] sure we have a problem once in a while but we talk it out and learn from it they never argue because we have nothing to argue about i'll put my youngsters up against any other busload in this county they have the safety smarts my kids they know not to talk to the driver except when asked they know a kid who behaves badly will be reported i encourage my kids to read quietly and do homework on the bus they know to stay in their assigned seats and never to ask me to stop in an unscheduled place we have emergency drills two or three times a year and the kids know how to use the emergency door they even shop about writing down license numbers of cars that don't stop when they're supposed to [Music] [Music] have a good bye [Music] karen i like to feel i'm an important part of their education like parents and teachers thank you mr johnson i'll see you this afternoon see you this afternoon [Music] thank you mr johnson thank you walter j klein and thank you little debbie um so i rode the bus a lot um i didn't really have a i didn't have a car until my uh sophomore year in college so um and i lived kind of a rural part of north carolina so i took the bus a lot um and the thing with the bubbles really it's if somebody barfed because that would happen uh maybe once a year in grade school where somebody would throw up and what would happen is the barf would roll under the seats and it would stink and it would just be ugh the worst and so then any kid that didn't had like really poor uh gag reflexes or like a hair trigger would they would also start wretching and it could potentially cause a chain reaction of disgustingness and it wasn't bubbles that was causing it so it was really gross all right um one last film we're gonna run a little long but that's okay um this is forrester versus forrester and so this film um and boy meets dog and a [Music] magnificent major all of them were on a compilation in a show that i did called courtroom classroom where they use courtroom settings to get their point across about whatever educational thing they were trying to get across so this is forester versus forester see if you can figure out what this court case is really about the case before this court is the matter of forced versus foster [Music] a cause of action involving an interference with an advantageous contractual relationship the plaintiff michael forrester previously a member of the rock group to government has charged his father bernard forster with preventing him from attending a recording session the session resulting in a successful record album the plaintiff is asking sixty-two thousand thousand dollars in damages and the forty two thousand dollars punitive damages is counsel for both parties ready we are your honor we are your honor would either of you gentlemen care to make an opening statement i would your honor proceed mr mayor [Music] your honor ladies and gentlemen of the jury as you can well imagine it's not an easy thing done to bring his father into court unusual perhaps but not without reason we intend to show what little regard bernard foster had for his son the attitudes toward michael's friends his restrictive environment at home mr forrester's constant badgering to succeed on terms michael couldn't accept michael forrester is an individual and is entitled to his own outlook and goals in life mr forrester refused to accept this to some of you this may seem just another example of the generation gap well that may be but when mr forrester denied michael the right to pursue his own chosen career he went far beyond the responsibility of a parent thank you mr jones would you care to address the court yes thank you your honor mr barrett's last statement troubles me he went far beyond his responsibility as a parent well just what is a parent's responsibility and [Music] can he exceed it and michael forrester we find a bright young man but he's also at a very impressionable age mr forrester felt it his duty to exercise some control over michael's social contacts to keep the boy out of trouble mr forrester tried to communicate with mike but he repeatedly rejected his advice michael showed little responsibility at home and he rarely contributed in any way toward the family yet he demanded equal treatment we feel that michael was unable to make a decision in anything as important as his future thank you plaintiff may call the first witness the plaintiff would like to call mr arthur jackson to the stand [Music] do you swear to tell the truth the whole truth so help you god i do bcd [Music] would you please state your name and affiliation i'm arthur jackson vice president of good star records hollywood california and were you the discoverer of the now successful rock group known as together yes sir at the time you first saw them perform was michael foster a member of that group yes sir is this the contract you had mike forrester sign yes your honor i would like to offer this agreement between michael forrester and good star music against evidence you may enter plaintiff one into evidence yes your honor now mr jackson did all the members of the group profit from their contractual agreement with goodstar all but one and who was that mike mike forrester thank you mr jackson no more questions your honor your witness council mr jackson michael forrester had missed group obligations before hadn't he sure everybody missed a couple but you didn't drop him from the group no was mike the best performer in the group well no not really well would the group have been just as successful without michael forrester jackson your honor michael stalin is not the issue before this court objection sustained did your contract allow you to replace a man on short order yes sir the group knew that going in well then it appears that you had contractual right to replace mike got nothing to do with it man i'll have no such disturbances in my court sit down no further questions your honor how much dobbs you're a member of togetherman aren't you yes that's right up until recently you and michael were very close weren't you yes mike confided in you yes he did did he say mr forrester was hard on i think so such as mr forrester always made mike feel small he didn't understand or or appreciate mike how did he make his feelings now he always told michael that if he didn't shape up he'd never make it what was mr forrester's idea of making it oh you know the usual hang-ups money power possessions and these coincide with michael's idea of making it no way like what if freedom wanted to do something with his life he wasn't interested in things did mike hate his father no actually i think mike loves his father he just never got anything from him thank you miss dobbs your witness counselor isn't it true that you and mike were more than just close what do you mean i think you know what i mean let me put it this way weren't you the cars of mike staying out till three or four in the morning objection your honor i don't see the relevance here objection sustained did you have a curfew i mean were you required to be home at any certain hour well sometimes sometimes i see did mike have a curfew yeah he usually had to be home by one well if you were aware of this curfew why did you encourage mike to break it well i just thought it was time mike stood up to his old man i mean he isn't a kid anymore do you ever stop to think that mr forrester might be pacing the floor calling hospitals checking accident reports while waiting for his son to come home no more questions your honor now mrs townsend as the forester family housekeeper for many years you are in a good position to see if the generation gap between michael and his father existed was there such a gap i would say so how was their communication did they talk to one another not often did mr forrester place excessive demands on he was hard on him sometimes but he used to tell us how he had nothing when he was young and the only way to make it was to be tough on yourself did his father encourage his talent not really it really would hurt me the way that mister would make fun of mike and ask him how he was going to support a family thank you mrs townsend no further questions your honor did mike obey his father's wishes sometimes sometimes uh certainly you could be a little more specific than that michael was young and full of life i saw him when he sneaked out and he wasn't supposed to but he just went like this did mike have duties around the house uh mowing the lawn taking out the garbage you know yeah well did he fulfill these obligations did he do his share not really objection your honor i don't really see where this line of questioning is going it is our intention your honor to show that mike forrester took everything in his life for granted and he was just too unreliable to make counselors that because mike didn't take out the garbage his father fields that if mike didn't act like a man and accept certain responsibilities that's enough for now mr jones do you have any further questions for this witness uh no your honor in that case i declare a 15-minute resix [Music] well we've got him right where we want him we'll be able to put him away after we cut it out elmer if it is what you wanted isn't it teach him a lesson i said that's enough i'm sorry where do we go from here well barrett will call a couple more witnesses and then it'll be our turn to uh how much longer is this going to take this thing's really getting to me well we have three more witnesses scheduled and your father will get his chance the whole thing's so open i mean the questioning of janet now any regrets so eventually first witness the defense will only call one witness your honor the defense calls the defendant they're not forester [Music] what is your profession mr forrester i'm a stockbroker oh and does this take a great deal of time unfortunately yes why do you say unfortunately i find little time left for the things i enjoy well your boy is implied that you want to work and work is the only thing you really care about well she's wrong well kindly tell the court what else is important to you among other things my family and of course my son michael they've been accused by several of michael's friends of coming between their friendship if you did did you do so knowingly perhaps as a parent i had misgivings about some of mike's friends i told him i thought it would be a good idea come on dad you locked him out of the house you wouldn't even let me see michael we'll have no more outbursts like that in my courtroom counselor please control your client please continue mike just doesn't understand what being a parent is like i'm responsible for his safety for his education his morals your honor if mike gets into trouble who do you hold responsible mike said that you never took time to listen to him mike always wanted to argue so whatever position i took he would always take the opposite it got so that we could never talk without anything that there wasn't an argument as far as mike was concerned i hadn't anything to offer you've been accused of placing [Music] impossible restrictions on michael if i didn't care about him i wouldn't have placed any restrictions at all that would have been the easiest thing to do there you see so many parents who don't care where the children are or what they're doing well regarding mike's music do you feel he showed any talent yes but not enough to base a life on i wanted mike to have a good solid perspective on life before he undertook what i felt was a narrow terribly risky career thank you sir no more questions your honor mr foster did you ever use material things to control michael's future how do you mean hold back the use of the car not let mike watch tv sure i wanted him to be the best don michael forester he could be i didn't want him to settle for seconds if that meant i had to restrict him i did did you make every effort to mold mike into your own image look every father wants his son to be liking to some extent i don't feel i'm any more guilty of that than any parent thank you mr foster no more questions your honor mike do you think your father understood you no not really i don't think he ever tried what do you mean by that well i never had any time to listen did your father ever praise you at anything or offer you encouragement only in things that he wanted me to do never anything that i wanted to do did you ever discuss meaningful things like politics you didn't discuss with him you listen to him it's always saying that i was an idealist or that i was naive that i didn't understand the way things really are in your opinion was he correct no gotta be blind not to see the way things really are i just want things different i'm not ready to live my life like my dad's you really think your father's quite a materialist don't you don't you well he's provided you with a nice home car you can drive television you can watch closet full of nice clothes i didn't ask to be born my father brought me into this world you don't really feel that you owe your father anything do you i don't feel i have a debt to pay if that's what you mean well i don't feel that you have a debt to pay in the traditional sense either but do you ever make an effort to make your father's life just a little bit easier how can i when he shuts me out of it well maybe he feels you don't want to be a part of it thank you michael no more questions your honor are you gentlemen prepared to make your closing arguments we are your honor ladies and gentlemen of the jury we have shown you the contract with michael forrester and good star music we've also shown proof of loss bernard forrester made every effort to totally dominate his son's life he chose his friends doled out privileges enforced curfews and offered michael little or no privacy but in the end he committed the most serious act of all he denied michael the opportunity to pursue his chosen career we contend that bernard forrester went beyond his obligations as a parent in controlling michael's life now my client has suffered damages and we ask he be awarded these damages in full thank you ladies and gentlemen of the jury we do not contest that a generation gap existed but as a parent bernard forrester felt that he could guide his son and set an example for him apparently that isn't what michael wanted i ask you ladies and gentlemen was bernard forrester guilty of anything other than wanting the very best for his son as he saw it i thank you and now you the jury will go to the jury room to elect a foreman and arrive at a bird will the court please rise [Music] [Music] [Music] this is one of those high concept educational films that i feel like really doesn't land like you know if you sit and pay attention to it it yeah it kind of gets its point across but it takes a while to get there and there's all the overhead of it and i don't know i i appreciate it for what it's trying to do but you know sometimes using a gimmick like this and sticking to the like well we want to make it seem like it's a real trial um i think gets in the way of like trying to get the point across so there you go that's my take on it but you know i'm just me um and you guys are just you and thank you so much for your
