so so so so so so so so so so so so so hello everybody i'm skip alzheimer welcome to the av geeks lunchtime streaming show where my webcam has decided to make me all brown i don't know what's going on at some point i'm using the internal webcam on my imac because it just is it doesn't use up as many usb connections in the back because i have all these other connections going in and out so anyways uh at some point i will invest um in a better camera so um i can faintly hear myself on this other computer so i'm going to turn that off uh anyways this is uh we watch old 16 millimeter films and that last film was from the oregon archive ultimately from the mogul brothers archive um china gets her salt um really interesting process on uh how salt is made um and some of that has not changed uh all right we've been showing some old nasa films and these are films that are generally before uh we landed on the moon uh and this one's about colonel frank borman one of the astronauts enjoy probably one of the first tasks of an astronaut assigned to an upcoming space flight will be to meet the press feel their searching questions and in so doing continue to instill great confidence in the space program in this area of give and take there are few persons the equal of astronaut frank bormann unusually composed under such pressures he has the ability to communicate clearly so that others can understand frank is is this lunar orbit mission too risky after only one manned apollo flight no jules as i said before if i i i can honestly say this if i thought it was too risky i don't know how the other two people feel but i wouldn't be on board we've flown many uh unmanned apollos as you know we have the hit the system history of the apollo is fantastic and the testing the redundancy the quality control and the care that we've made and then the procedure the changes that we've made since the fire i think it's a safe vehicle gifted with a natural sense of organized thinking colonel bormann practices efficiency and takes pride in his ability to have a job well done following his graduation from west point in 1950 he entered the air force and received his pilot training at williams air force base in arizona in 1957 west point asked him to return as an instructor in thermodynamics and fluid mechanics shortly after he had received his master of science degree from caltech in aeronautical engineering in september 1962 frank borman's application as an astronaut was accepted by nasa from hundreds of applicants he had been selected to join the second group to be named to the space agency following orientation frank borman and his group began their six months of classroom study in such courses as geology astronomy flight mechanics and physics of the upper atmosphere along with other astronauts he participated in survival training to gain experience in reducing hazards which may occur following space flight in 1965 frank borman and james lovell were assigned as backup pilots for germany iv but it wasn't until germany 7 that year that his training and experience was used when he was selected prime crew command pilot with level as pilot [Music] but specialized mission training was necessary the flight was to be a 14 days duration longer than the planned lunar trip in that time 20 experiments were planned many questions would be answered including the physiological aspects of living two weeks in space [Music] also gemini 7 spacecraft was to be the passive target for germany 6 during the first rendezvous in space launch day came months of training were soon put to use [Music] liftoff was similar to previous launches with one big difference frank borman was in the spacecraft instead of on the ground gemini 6 was successful in its rendezvous with germany 7 and came back with spectacular pictures after the longest manned space flight in history from december 4th to the 18th the crew welcomed a return to earth just 32 minutes after splashdown they were receiving congratulations on the aircraft carrier wasp for nasa post-flight medical checkups and debriefings were of first concern but for family men borman and lovell a reunion with their wives and close friends was next in importance in the press conference that followed with the germany six and seven astronauts frank borman opened the session first let me say that i'm glad that the theme all morning has been on the the group and the team emphasis on this mission because i think it's been evident to jim and i from the very beginning that we've had wonderful support from every quarter of course one of the dangers when you start to uh to try to outline the people that have given you the support is the fact that you that you often forget or overlook someone and many people use this as a reason for not thanking everyone i think what i i'd like to say is when we use the term our flight that we'd like to use our in its broadest sense and we'd like to have everyone that was out on the oilers for two weeks in the pacific or down to the people that that are working the midnight shift and martin and mcdonald realize that we're speaking for them when we say our as soon as the conferences were over and life became more normal frank borman and his family attended the saint christopher church in league city texas where he's a member and when time permits contributes his services as a lay minister early in 1967 nasa called upon frank borman following the death of the first apollo flight crew at cape kennedy by appointing him an investigating member of the accident review board in apollo frank borman was selected as spacecraft commander of the third man flight along with james lovell command pilot and bill anders pilot but in keeping apollo follow-on schedule nasa switched them to apollo 8 the second manned flight colonel borman and his crew in apollo 8 are now cleared for the deepest planned space penetration out about 240 000 miles and the chance to be the first humans to orbit the moon it was a conservative mission i didn't mean that i thought there weren't risks or dangers involved and and i don't subscribe to the school that said you take more danger driving on a freeway and this sort of thing because they're you don't you don't have to uh to study the spacecraft space program too closely to realize that we're flying a saturn v and we've got elements of danger all along the way but i can't help thinking when i see that vehicle as the booster and the spacecraft that we're looking at the best that american technology can produce and i have confidence that it'll be good enough um let's see gemini um montana ovalation uh rutabaga puma reptiles abdomen protein uh and then vegetables am i saying that right the vegetable one anyways we learn all sorts of things when we watch these old films um and that one was great i uh and they do that on for other astronauts as well uh and these are kind of things that are released by nasa uh and distributed to tv stations um and news organizations as kind of a press release uh what became eventually a video news release uh alex thank you for the coffee um we love coffee here at yellow rays spread eyes and ears appeared among the leaves and thickets and hearty crowns a huge rainbow arched triumphantly across the sky how rich and beautiful was life in the valley the animals cited then and there that they should celebrate the splendor of this golden day perhaps they would have a picnic we're spread quickly through the forest all morning long the woods rang with joyous shouts as the animals scurried to and fro gathering delicious food for the picnic some even bunked heads in their eager excitement first to arrive at the picnic grounds were mr and mrs dear and their daughter doe old mr and mrs bobcat and their two grown sons two raccoons who were unrelated and two young fox lovely brown eyes they had all brought good things to eat and as they spread them out they talked oh this is going to be a fine picnic said mrs dear as she set out her homemade bread oh yes said mrs bobcat i can think of no better way to celebrate our good life here in the valley and with that she uncovered a huge crock of steaming baked beans and barbecue sauce then one of the raccoons setting out a tray of cold potato salad said i hope you don't mind my staring mrs bobcats but i never before noticed your beautiful long whiskey i only wish i had light dainty feet like mrs deer oh i'd give anything to have a lovely ring tail like that about a raccoon friend the conversation was interrupted by the arrival of a family of three playful beavers hello hello hello it is what might happen to your tails that plant is shuffled [Music] i hope you don't shovel all the food into your mouth so fast that there will be none for us why don't you go have your own picnic the beavers their eyes smarting turned and toddled away crying as they went to hide their flat tails next came two bears ah did you ever see anything so big and clumsy in all your life hey you're stumbling to the back i'm sorry we don't want you here we didn't want to come to your old picnic anyway their words were proud but their hearts ached as they went away after that two cows showed up but no sooner had they arrived and the picnickers began to make fun of them they told them they had feet like potpolis they did not stop laughing until the cows left when the pigs showed up they said they were full of mud the elephant had a nose longer than his leg goats butted things with their heads only a fool would do that the crow had no arms only ridiculous wings [Music] after sending the other animals away the picnickers continued their merrymaking they were more boisterous than ever suddenly they heard a noise a low rumbling noise the merrymaking ceased could it be they listened their eyes growing wide with fright it was coming from the other end of the valley someone must go up in a tall tree to see oh dear me neither i my husband nor my daughter joe could ever climb a tree hey we can't either [Music] neither can we in the state we're in mr bobcat looked up at the tree and said i can climb trees but i don't know if i can get high enough to see but he leaped up and began climbing higher and can higher see what's causing that frightening rumble no i'm not high enough yet up and up he went until he was among the very thin branches at the top of the tree i still can't see [Music] fortunately he landed in a soft juniper bush and was not injured the rumbling grew louder animals huddled together trembling what are we going to do i don't know just then the crow popped out of the bushes i uh wouldn't help overhearing your problem perhaps these ridiculous wings of mine can uh be of service the crow took off and soared gracefully into the heavens hey look how beautifully he rides the wind and so high the others too marvel the crow returned with the news that the rain of the last few weeks had overflowed the riverbank and the flood of water was rushing down the valley in their direction for your lives cried the two fox and they dashed off with the other animals not far behind wait wait don't run away the water is still a long way off where should we wait listen if you let the flood come it will wash away the fertile soil of the valley where your food comes from and you will all starve [Music] you know he's right well wha what can we do perhaps we can build a dam do we have time all the animals turned to the crow for a reply the crow shot up into the sky like a rocket [Music] in a few seconds he came down again you can do it if you work fast the animals dashed back to the picnic grounds which was the narrowest part of the valley and set to work the bobcats scratched frantically at the soil but only raised a small mound of earth if we only had a shovel at that the beavers appeared we can use our tails that's what they're for see the beavers quickly set to work shoveling dirt into the damn site the other animals marveled the raccoons were struggling with small stones if only we were strong enough to lift big rocks mean like this the animals marveled at the bears strength hey boy i wish i were very strong i'd pull up one of those trees to put it to the dam the leaves parted and the elephant crawled in the other animals applauded as the elephant flung the tree into the damn site the goats returned and butted the rocks into place there was a muddy place where all feared to go the pigs showed up and plunged right in finally the cows came and used their pot lid feet to tamp down here [Music] they had built their dam high and strong the fertile valley was saved the rest of the day was spent rejoicing picnicking and admiring what each animal could do that others could not marveling at the things about each other that were different [Music] all right where am i where am i going where am i oh hey um yeah so there's others in that series uh the why series of why we have voting why we have taxes why it's it's kind of an interesting series and i'll i'll start showing some of those because they are kind of interesting to me um yeah so uh one of the things that kind of dawned on me while we were um watching that film uh and it has absolutely nothing to do with the film except for picnicking um one of my favorite shows television shows is a japanese show that's on nhk called lunch on and um i'm a little obsessed with the show right now i watch i downloaded found some source and downloaded almost 90 episodes and it's still being made uh and i basically um what it is it's a 30-minute show where they go to some japanese uh factory or business or individual and they talk about what they do at that factory or that business then they show what they have for lunch and um they talk about it and they show it um it's not a cooking show it's but it's a kind of it's a japanese it's an educational show and it's about japanese culture and about what they eat and sometimes what they eat is exquisite and beautifully made sometimes what they mean they eat is something they got at a convenience store they just microwave like you know rice whatever but this comes up because my uh wife uh went to an udon noodle place yesterday and she got me a rice ball which is something that um just featured you know uh there's bentos which are the boxes uh and she got a bento and uh she got me on rice balls so i'm excited to have it here and then in thinking about it how much i love the show i was like oh i'm doing when i first started doing this av geeks lunch one of the things i would ask is like what are you having for lunch uh and then quickly realized that uh not everybody was watching it at the time that was appropriate for lunch like we do it um so see it's uh rice and it's got some sort of thing in the center and then there's seaweed here which kind of separated and i have to kind of reconnect it this packaging is all weird i don't know where this is made probably i don't think it was made in japan i think it was made locally um i'm gonna anyways what i realized is like oh i was asking people what they want what they were having for lunch and surprisingly a lot of it was stouffer's uh pizza but um or fast food but that's when we were all kind of in lockdown and um so i stopped doing that at some point i realized okay well people not everybody's eating lunch while they're watching this because they're watching from other countries or time zones but um anyways um there's a complete diversion there uh but it's really awesome uh so somebody just asked me what type of telecenter am i using uh behind me is a german-made uh mwa nova flash transfer 16. and it's a workhorse i've had it for 12 years 13 years 14 years um i got it new and spent more than 60 000 on it and um it only does standard definition but it's fine for when i'm broadcasting so since i got this i've i've upgraded and i have a scanners where i can do 4k or 2k scans of this only does 16 i can do 16 35 9.5 8 super 8 etc um so anyways but that's what i have behind me and so the other scanners i have is i have a kineta which i haven't used in a while uh because the software is a little outdated um i have a black magic cintel and then i have a film fabrique h d s plus which is dutch um so yeah there you go um i'm gonna eat a little bit of the rice ball and i like that it's a solid it's kind of a triangular solid seaweed in there inside all right this film is somehow related solids and the world around us enjoy mathematics which deals with and studies the properties measurements and relations of lines angles surfaces and solids because our world is made up of a vast assortment of these objects objects having an unlimited variety of shapes and sizes a working knowledge of geometry has become a vital necessity for everyone whether we realize it or not each one of us has been in contact with geometry since the time of our birth one of our first dwelling places was probably one of these rectangular prisms our first meal from a bottle shaped like a cylinder as we grew and developed more and more geometrical forms entered our lives in new and fascinating ways [Music] [Applause] wonderful though they are the years of childhood take away and as they do our experiences and concepts begin to change form and proportion or size begin to have new meaning there comes an age when even the wonderland of nature can be seen as a fascinating assortment of variations on the circle the triangle [Applause] the square [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] if we train our eyes to observe we may see geometric designs we have never noticed before [Music] [Laughter] [Music] [Music] so [Music] um so [Music] foreign [Music] so [Music] wow [Music] and so it goes again and again we find nature to be a miracle of geometric harmony and design but this is true of the entire physical universe what are you interested in sports without the spear many of our favorite pastimes would be non-existent [Applause] without wheels tubes and cylinders the hot rod would belong to yet another age [Music] think of where rock and roll would be without the circular platter or hi-fi without the roll of magnetic tape [Music] how many variations on the circle and the square can be found in an amusement park [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] all of these things that are made for fun require a knowledge of solid geometry in their manufacture this is a highly technical civilization everywhere we look we find application of geometric principles utilization of various shapes and designs [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Applause] so [Music] so [Music] geometry has become an indispensable tool of mankind it is used constantly by the builder the engineer the craftsman and the principal key to tomorrow's development is here in the student in the classroom today it is here that we start with simple concepts we build a foundation for tomorrow's understanding of the more complex we may have learned for example that a point can be represented by a dot even though it is thought of as having neither length with nor thickness we may also have learned that a line is a succession of points or a set of points if two points are located on a line the part of the line between them is called a line segment and is spoken of as having one dimension or length if we draw two lines from a single point we form an angle if we add yet another line in this manner we obtain a figure which lies in a plane the lines have become sides and our figure a triangle in much the same manner we draw quadrilaterals pentagons hexagons octagons yes even circles we call the study of these figures plane geometry we become familiar with such terms as circumference diameter radius cord tangent segment sector concentric circles all of these figures may be drawn on a flat surface or plane and are often referred to as two-dimensional figures now let us consider figures which are found in space instead of circles we will now consider spheres cones and cylinders instead of triangles pyramids instead of squares and various polygons we will now consider cubes prisms and other polyhedrons these are sometimes known as figures in three dimension or figures in space or merely solids we call the study of such figures solid geometry with a knowledge of solid geometry we can better evaluate and make use of the physical world around us remember the question they used to ask you when you were just a little tyke what are you going to be when you grow up well it's about time to start thinking seriously about it what are you going to be an engineer chemist an architect perhaps you'll be a farmer a test pilot regardless of what you do you'll find that almost daily there is need for the application of some geometric principle if you as a student can see and understand this now the subject of solid geometry will contain the challenge of a lifetime by mastering the subject you'll be claiming for yourself a greater appreciation of form and size a better understanding of the shapes that make for progress [Applause] [Music] wow that um [Music] that uh montage at the end of the neon was really oops in the wrong thing uh was really something this one was really weird as somebody pointed that out it's just like it's all over the place um it uh so senko uh was based in chicago which tells me that it's chances are it probably was a splinter from [Music] uh either coronet or uh encyclopedia britannica there were a lot of film companies that kind of sprouted up i think journal was one uh where they used to work at one of those companies and then they kind of started their own um i mean it just goes to show that the educational film capital of the united states was chicago um the sponsored and industrial film capital of the united states is detroit um so uh yeah but chicago lots of stuff there and so i i kind of looked to see if i had any other senco films in my collection i have a couple and they're all science-ish related and some of them deal with the specifics let's see what we got here um surface areas on solids deals with the surface areas of cubes prisms pyramid shows practical uses for determining service area boring uh solids in the world around us is what we saw and this one was and this is um the description explains that we live in a three-dimensional world and been exposed to solid geometry since birth points out that even the wonderland of nature can be seen as variations of the circle the triangle and the square well the sphere the pyramid and the cube i would say uh volumes of pyramids cones and spheres uh then there's some science there's some uh climate stuff the world of our weather and climate series winds great and small it's the humidity and we should watch that one um and all these were made in the early 60s so uh and i haven't been able to find any evidence of them doing stuff later although there are resources out there and maybe one of you will include those up anywho i used to love farrell's ice cream that seems to be a subject that's popped up on youtube's comments so awesome uh yeah i i used to love farrell's obviously we'd go there for my birthday uh and then we'd go ice skating at eastland mall in charlotte north carolina all right so i got another film on the telecini um this one is another animal uh animated animal one so enjoy this is the camel who took a walk not a blade of grass was moving and do you know why this was so because it was just the time between night and day when night was ending and day was about to begin all the creatures in the forest were very quiet but the quietest of all was the tiger he was lying at the foot of a tree by the side of a road that divided the forest in vines and grasses he was hidden also by the darkness suddenly the first glimmer of light trembled in the sky the sky the forest and even the air began to turn blue just then on the road that divided the forest in half far far up that road something yes something was moving the tiger's eyes were opened the tiniest crack no he was not sleeping as he would have you believe he was thinking and watching that thing draw nearer and nearer and the sky was getting bluer and bluer the light on the road had turned pink so you could see that the thing was a very beautiful camel she was taking her morning walk with her head way up in the air her nose smelled the early morning sweetness and her eyes took in all the colors of the sky and the tiger was thinking as soon as this beautiful camel comes to where the shadow of the tree falls across the road i am going to pounce on her but the tiger was not the only one who saw the camel walking down the road way up in the tree on a branch directly over the tiger sat a little monkey holding a coconut he knew what the tiger was thinking about so he said to himself just as soon as the tiger is about to pounce on the camel i will drop this coconut on his head and all the while the beautiful camel walked gracefully down the road turning her pretty head this way and that while the sky got brighter and brighter but the tiger and the monkey were not the only ones who saw the beautiful camel on the same tree right behind the monkey's tail a little squirrel with its bright little eyes had seen what was going on and the little squirrel said to himself as soon as the monkey is ready to drop the coconut on the tiger's head i will bite his tail [Music] all the while the beautiful camel walked gracefully down the road turning her pretty head this way and that while the sky grew brighter and brighter [Music] but the tiger the monkey and the squirrel were not the only ones who saw the beautiful camel a little bird was watching what the tiger the monkey and the squirrel were up to and the little bird said to himself ah i know what i shall do as soon as the squirrel is ready to bite the monkey's tail i shall pounce with my sharp claws upon his tiny head meanwhile the camel was getting nearer and nearer and the sun was getting hotter and hotter and just as the camel had almost reached the shadow of the tree and the tiger was getting ready and the monkey was getting ready and the others were all getting ready the camel suddenly stopped and stretched her pretty neck way up in the sky and she opened her mouth oh so wide and she let out an awful yawn and said i think i'll go back the tiger was so surprised that he didn't pounce on the camel and the monkey didn't drop his coconut and the squirrel didn't bite the monkey's tail and the bird didn't pounce on the squirrel's head and they didn't do all of these things all in the same instant for just a tiny second not a sound was heard then the little bird burst into a peel of laughter that pierced the forest the squirrel began to chatter and the monkey began swinging back and forth with such glee that all the creatures in the forest woke up crying what happened what happened but you know what happened nothing happened [Music] the beautiful camel just turned around and walked back the same way she had come [Music] the tiger slinked away into the deep dark forest and the sun shone like brass in the sky [Music] so that's what we call an iconographic uh film in that it is just taking the illustrations from a children's book or a book or something and it's just panning across and panning down and all that um you know nowadays you might call it a ken burns effect it's picking taking static imagery and trying to you know make it more dynamic um so there you go uh one last film this one is um i don't know if this is news film footage or somebody shot this for i don't know what the deal is but it had a um magnetic strip soundtrack which meant that the audio was recorded at the same time that the film was shot and it was processed this is what news film was it's basically you would record the audio and it would sync um because there was a magnetic strip on the film um so anyways this is it didn't have a title but we just call it craft fair because it's based on what you see and i think this is in north carolina so enjoy a christmas tree that could be hung yes and you've quilted all that you say you use it for a pillow too a pillow or a tree and on the back you got a little hook fixed i think it'd be beautiful hanging at chris i think it's nice hanging now let's see the big wreath and these are the wreaths i have them in red bows and they also have a hanger on the back to uh hang up goodness that's big and fat you stuff that tight yeah that must have been hard to do how did you learn to do this well uh i uh maybe see it and so this lady just brought me the pattern and showed me how uh [Applause] and so you got it well [Music] and in addition to all that you make all these jams and jellies now what's this one this is heavenly jam that's uh strawberries and pineapples it's very delicious gee it's the color of strawberries all right didn't it oh that's that looks good enough to eat and then another one that's corn cob jelly that's crank up jelly and this is an old family recipe that we've had in the family for years oh man well i can't even imagine what that tastes like like apple like apple oh and one more that's interesting in the little jar what's this one this is hot pepper jelly it's uh made out of red hot pepper is it hot tasting what do you do with it uh eating with meat or cream cheese and crackers oh i see well thank you for letting us talk to you and thank you for letting me wear this lovely red bunny helen england from burnsville and i hope you hear many more things well thank you this is ed brinkman and ed where are you from i'm from burnsville north carolina right here in town but my studio is just out of town but you've got an accent that doesn't belong around you no originally from michigan but i uh came down because of penland school of crafts i was a resident craftsman there at family school yeah well i was uh working there as a resident craftsman and met my wife there so we moved down and so now you're a north carolinian yeah that's good well this is the most unusual and beautiful craft you do would you tell us about it we might as well start with these people all right this is a porcelain clay and you roll the clay out like pie crust with a rolling pin you put leaves down onto the surface and roll over it and that brings out the fine little vein like effects that the leaves have and then shells sea urchins various tools are used dental tools and other tools pressed in to give it a little more variation than just a shell decoration and arrange it in sort of a floral arrangement and then paint paint it with coloring oxides the coloring oxide says they're used in other ceramic ingredients or also in paints but it fired at about 23 2400 degrees fahrenheit so it becomes just like a glass it's a very hard the porcelain clay is a white clay body it's uh not a natural clay body it's usually mixed with feldspar kalin and flint which are mined around this area it's a man-made clay body this one oh we have a truck going back this one you've made into a mirror but also it's a different looking material yes it's a stoneware clay body it's the buff leathery clay and using porcelain on the surface these small amounts of porcelain brings out the white colors onto the surface so that you can bring out the better color well i wanted to ask you about this because i just don't see how you get anything that thin and still it's open all the way it again is rolled out like pie crust with a rolling pin and a piece of clay put on the bottom and you pinch the two sides up on the on the sides and pinch it out at the top it's very soft it's like pie crust and dough and you can just manipulate the clay and various things again using the shell uh motif glass shells that's some of my favorites see i got sea horses here now the bells quite an interesting effect quite an effective effect various clay and again you decorate them by putting various little details in the surface and it's they're thrown on a potter's wheel a little bow-like effect and then invert it to make the bell and the decorations are pushed in quite often the fingerprints end up on the inside in the soft plastic what are the little clappers made of are they the clappers are also made of clay and the little clay beads which string the bells together uh unifying the decoration and also kind of protect the string from the wear oh that's very so quite effective well we're glad to have you in north carolina with your beautiful craft and thank you for listening thank you very much really enjoy it well i've had apple butter that i bought at the store but it's the first time i've ever seen any cooking gotta have a little taste and see how it is too it's hot i'll tell you that that's coming long but it's gonna cook down a whole lot let's go back in talk to miss bertha bird because she's the expert on this thing bertha how long does this have to cook well we put it on the left right this morning and it'll be around four again around four o'clock it's done and comes out you live around this part it's the fifth no i live uh down it uh on the river down at green mountain green mountain and what county is that is it's it's in yet she counts down yancey county county uh maybe we better get your husband to fix up the fire a little bit let's turn the fire a little bit fix up five boss we gotta keep that apple butter going you make apple butter all the time or you have to make it when you got apples during the fall or when do you make apples you have to make it wild apple terrain yeah and when you can it up uh do you can a whole lot fun yeah i can make this fall count up enough and have apple butter to do laugh with butter making time again what can you do with apple butter besides just eat it on a hot biscuit can you do anything else with it oh yeah you can make that what they call apple butter cake out of it that sounds good between cakes it's really trying to make the feeling yeah make the feeling oh like a jelly roll sort of thing yeah you can make applesauce you should just play applesauce you make applesauce cakes that are cakes out of apple same sort of thing well that that old line pot been with you a long time well the pot i've got has a uh this is not my part oh i bought the whole lot last year mine's just a 10 gallon and i borrowed my neighbors was 15 gallons so i could make my heart this is the way you fix it if you're going to sell it is that right yes that's the way i fix it well now that really looks pretty that's that's good looking i bet at home you don't put it in little jaws do you huh yes just me and my husband at home we just had two children and they're grown and married and got children oh so i put what i ain't thrust eating little cans that are weighing off i put fill some quarts and pints to have to open when the grandchildren and the children all come do you like to come to this bath yes i do how long you been coming oh we've been coming to the fair for seven or eight years and every year do you make apples oh last year was the first year we'd made apple butter well that's sensational because nobody much has seen apple butter being made it was nice to visit with you huh it's not fun to talk to you it's nice to have you too i don't know james he just got out of slasher wanting us to make a run and got us into it bertha and charlie bird from up here around burnsville and she's busy with a long long spoon type thing making apple butter you i was in burnsville um that's the thing about north carolina and i'm sure other parts of the country it's not burnsville it's burnsville fayetteville um anyways that's in yancey county which is a western north carolina and um some of you commented that you would go to these back in the day my parents would drag me to all these craft fairs all over we'd go the mountains and we would go to all these pottery places and you know some of it was fascinating but some of it after a while just drained me but i can appreciate it um and this is a documentation of that kind of the guy from michigan was pretty great um and uh i'll i'll go to a craft fair every once in a while you know just to
