This parable, set in a small Spanish village called Almas, explores the conflicting values that emerge when a precious statue of the Christ child is found by a deaf-mute teenage girl. For the young girl, the statue becomes the emotional substitute for a beloved baby who accidentally died while under her care. For the townspeople, the statue represents wealth and grandeur.
