Description: Reviews the constitutional source of the power of the President and uses the 1952 steel strike to dramatically point out the limitations of the power of the President and to indicate the control exercised by the legislative and judicial branches of government. Depicts President Truman taking over the steel industry in order to avert a steel strike during the Korean War, in which the federal district court ruled the seizure unconstitutional. This decision was later sustained by the Supreme Court, thus effectually curbing the power of the President. Shows granting of specific powers to the President by citing the Taft-Hartley Act which would have been applicable in the case of the steel strike.
