Christy Sloane (Parker) is a legal secretary in San Francisco whose desire for finer things is hampered by her desperate financial straits. Her boss orders Christy to go to Los Angeles to inform Peter Ulysses Lockwood of an inheritance of 28,000,000 pesos. Unbeknownst to her, Peter is the self-promoting and simpering host of a radio program on which he offers syrupy homilies and moral tales.
