bestowed upon Him gifts gold for his kingliness frankincense for his Heavenly origin and myrr a symbol of sorrow and healing from this beginning sprang the Divine personality of God's own son whose life and death have affected men's lives for the last 2,000 years here was a man come the Bible calls him beautifully fashioned full of Integrity Meek and fiery gentle and [Music] insistent he broke bread with the poor and drank wine with the Rich his life on Earth was marked by The Miracles he performed the stories he told he told the people that the human body should not be nourished by bread alone but must have spiritual food also his message was love and its impact vibrates down through the [Music] centuries to this very day his Passover supper of bread and wine is commemorated he called himself the son of man his people called him the Son of God yet They Crucified him though he was the son of God he lived and died as a mortal man his death signified a beginning it marked the birth of a New Hope For All Mankind a symbol of eternal life to all who believe a light shines in the [Music] darkness when they reached the place called the skull They Crucified him there with the criminals one on his right side and the other on his left Jesus said father forgive them they do not know what they are doing they divided his clothes among them by casting lots the people stood looking on and their rulers Jered at him he saved others now let him save himself if this is God's anointed his chosen the soldiers joined in the mockery and came forward offering him their sour wine if you are the king of the Jews they said save yourself there was an inscription above his head one of the criminals who hung there with him taunted him are you not the Messiah save yourself and us but the other answered sharply have you no fear of God you are under the same sentence as he for us it is plain Justice we are paying the price price for our misdeeds but this man has done nothing wrong and he said Jesus Remember Me When you come to your throne he answered I tell you this today you shall be with me in Paradise meanwhile near The Cross where Jesus stood his mother with her sister Mary wife of clus and Mary of magdala Jesus saw his mother with a disciple John whom he loved standing beside her he said to her mother there is your son and to the disciple there is your mother and from that moment on he took her into his home [Music] [Music] by now it was about midday and there came a Darkness over the whole land which lasted until 3:00 in the afternoon and the curtain in the temple was torn in [Music] two then Jesus gave a loud cry and said father into thy hands I commit my [Music] spirit the Centurion saw it all beyond all doubt he said this man was the son of God [Music] now there was a man called Joseph a member of the council a good upright man who had dissented from their policy in the action they had taken he came from the town of arthea and he was one who looked forward to the kingdom of God he asked pilate if he might have the body of Jesus pilate agreed as soon as he had confirmed that Jesus was really dead taking the body down from the cross he wrapped it in a linen sheet then with the help of Nicodemus he carried the body to a new Tomb in the garden near where he was crucified they rolled a great Stone against the entrance to the tomb and then they all went away it was Friday and the Sabbath was about to begin [Music] the next day the morning after that Friday the chief priests and the Pharisees came in a body to Pilot your Excellency they said we recall how that impostor said while he was still alive I am to rise after 3 days will you give orders for the grave to be made secure until the third day otherwise his disciples may come steal the body and then tell the people that he has been raised from the dead and the final deception will be worse than the first you may have your guard said pilate go and make it secure as best you can so they went and made the grave secure they sealed the stone and left the guard in charge the Sabbath had passed and it was about Daybreak on Sunday when Mary magdala and the other Mary came to look at the grave [Music] the angel addressed the women you he said have nothing to fear I know you are looking for Jesus who was crucified he is not here he has been raised as he said he would be come and see the place where he was laid and then go quickly and tell his disciples he has been raised from the dead and is going on before you into Galilee there you will see [Music] him they hurried away from the Tomb in awe and great joy and ran to tell the disciples suddenly Jesus was there in their path he gave them greeting and they came up and clasped his feet falling prostrate before him then Jesus said to themo not be afraid go and take word to my brothers that they are to leave for Galilee they will see me there that same day two of them were on their way to a village called emmos which is about 7 miles from Jerusalem and they were talking together about all these [Music] happenings he asked them what is it you are debating as you walk they halted and one called Copus answered are you the only person staying in Jerusalem not to know what has happened there in the last few days what do you mean he said all about Jesus of Nazareth they replied a prophet powerful in speech and action before God and the whole people how our chief priests and rulers handed him over to be sentenced to death and crucified him we had been hoping that he was the man to liberate Israel what is more this is the third day since it happened and now some women of our company have astounded us they went early to the tomb but failed to find his body and returned with the story that they had seen a vision of angels who told them he was alive some of our people went to the tomb and found things just as the women had said they did not see him how dull you are he answered how slow to believe all that the prophets said was the Messiah not bound to suffer thus before entering into his glory then he began with Moses and all the prophets and explained to them the passages which referred to himself in every part of the scripture [Music] by this time they had reached the village to which they were going and he made as if to continue his journey but they pressed him stay with us for the evening draws near so he went in to stay with them and when he sat down with them at the table he took bread and said the blessing [Music] they said to each other did we not feel Our Hearts on Fire as he talked with us on the road and explained the scriptures to us without a moment's delay they returned to Jerusalem [Music] there they found the 11 and the rest of the company they told them all that had taken place along the road and how he had made himself known to them in the breaking of the bread as they were talking about all this there he was standing among them he said peace be with you they were Terri ified at first thinking he was a ghost but he said to them see and touch my hands and feet no ghost has Flesh and Bones as you can see I had one of the 12 Thomas that is the twin was not with the rest when Jesus came so the disciples told him we have seen the Lord he said unless I see the mark of the nails on his hands unless I put my finger into the place where the nails were in my hand into his side I will not believe it a week later his disciples were again in the room and Thomas was with them although the doors were locked Jesus came and stood among them saying peace be with you then he said to Thomas reach your finger here see my hands the unbelieving no longer but believe Thomas said my Lord and my God Jesus then said because you have seen me you have found Faith happy are they who never saw me and yet have found Faith sometime later Jesus showed himself to his disciples Again by the Sea of tiberias Simon Peter and Thomas the twin were with Nathaniel of Kaa in Galilee the sons of Zebedee and two other disciples were also there they all went fishing and all that night they caught [Music] nothing morning came and there stood Jesus on the beach but the disciples did not know it was Jesus he called out to them friends have you caught anything they answered no he said cast the net and you will make a catch they did so and found they could not haul the net aboard there were so many fish in it then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter it is the Lord when Simon Peter heard that wrapped his coat about him for he had stripped and plunged into the sea the other disciples came in the boat towing the net full of fish for they were only about 100 yard from Land as soon as they had landed they saw a fire of coals there and fish laid on it and bread Jesus said bring some of the fish you have caught Simon Peter went and to the land drew the net full of large fish 153 and yet many as there were the net was not torn Jesus said to them come and have breakfast none of the disciples dared ask him who are you they knew it was the Lord then Jesus came up took the bread and he gave it to them and the fish in the same way and this was the third time he had showed himself to his disciples after he had risen from the [Music] dead Jesus appeared to his disciples for a period of 40 days speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God while he was in their company he told them not to leave Jerusalem you must wait he said for the promise made by my father about which you have heard me speak John as you know baptized with water but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit and within the next few days you shall tell my story in Jerusalem and all over Judea and Samaria and away to the ends of the Earth [Music] men of Galilee why stand there looking up into the sky this Jesus who has been taken away from you up into heaven will come in the same way as you have seen him go while the day of Pentecost was running its course they were all together in one place when suddenly there came from the sky a noise like that of a strong driving wind which filled the whole house in which the they were sitting and there appeared to them tongues like flames of fire dispersed among them and resting on each one and they were filled with the Holy Spirit and they began to talk in other languages as the Holy Spirit bad them say now they were living in Jerusalem devout Jews from every country under heaven and at this sound the crowd gathered all bewildered because each one heard the apostles talking in his own language they were all astonished and they marveled saying to one another look are not all these people who are speaking galileans how is it that each of us hears the language of the land in which he was born parans mes elamites inhabitants of Mesopotamia of Judea and capid doia of pontis and Asia of friia and penilia of Egypt of the districts of Libya around sirene visitors from Rome both Jews and prelit cretans and Arabs we all hear them tell in our own languages the wonderful works of God they were all amazed and perplexed saying to one another what can this mean others said contemptuously they have been drinking but Peter standing up with the 11 they had chosen Matias to replace Judas lifted his voice and said to them you men of Judea and all who live in Jerusalem listen to my words these men are not drunk as you suppose for it is only 9 in the morning this is the Fulfillment of the words of the Prophet Joel God says this will happen in the last days I will pour out upon everyone a portion of my spirit and your sons and daughters shall prophesy and your young men shall see visions and your old men shall dream dreams and it shall come about that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved then he told them of Jesus the Christ the son of God oh a [Applause] [Music] [Applause]
