Description: Presented by the United States Department of Defense Office of Civil Defense, this 1971 government film documents the destruction of Hurricane Camille. The Category 5 storm made landfall in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, on August 17, 1969, nearly flattening the Mississippi coastline and wreaking further damage as it moved inland. Sustaining 175-mph winds at its peak, Camille was the second most intense tropical cyclone to strike the United States on record.
