Description: Produced around 1969 by Trans World Airlines, this training film instructs flight crew on the proper emergency evacuation procedures for the state-of-the-art Boeing 747 jumbo jet. Following a dramatic credit sequence, the narrator calmly describes the plane’s emergency exit routes. Flight attendants demonstrate how to open the passenger doors, overwing exits, and crew doors, as well as how to activate the inflatable slides, both automatically and manually. A pilot then uses a deceleration device to jump safely from the top of the plane. The locations of the emergency exit lights, life vests, and inflatable rafts are indicated, and a flight attendant shows how to secure a support rope to the wing. Bringing together the previous instructions, the demonstration flight crew then complete a successful evacuation as triumphant music plays.
