Description: Norris Dodds, head of FAO, introduces the film with the statement that there is an increase of 55,000 in the world's population daily but that food production is not being increased at this rate. Against the background of a meeting of the IFAP (an international non-governmental organization with farmer representatives from 20 countries), sequences show food surpluses in some parts of the world and shortages in others. Makes a plea for an international wheat agreement which would guarantee wheat to countries needing it, at a guaranteed minimum price.
