34th Star

Chronicles the twenty-year story of a farmer and his family as they struggle to make the "Great American Desert" of the Kansas Territory a rich and bountiful land. Dramatizes the many land-related conflicts such as the Missouri Compromise, the Civil War, and the feud between the cattlemen and farmers. Shows how the determination and strength of families such as this made possible the area of the United States that would later be called "The Breadbasket of America." Stars Richard Kiley.
