1980s U.S. AIR FORCE ROTC TRAINING FILM

Year Published: 1980s

Format: 16mm

Description: Dating to the late early 1980s, "Clouds" is a lyrical ad for the U.S. Air Force ROTC program. The film begins with POV images of clouds at altitude, as a single engine Cessna 150K type airplane ascends towards the sunrise. At 4:05, the plane (tail N5729G) comes in for a landing. At 4:25, rain effects are shown and a member of Air Force ROTC begins flight instruction at ground school. A quick montage follows of male and female students in the classroom and college campus, with intermittent shots of rain. At 6:20, a model jet fighter aircraft is seen on the desk as a student studies. At 6:50, a sunny day at last, the student pilot goes back out on the runway for another flight. A ground check is performed at 7:30, and the student pilot checks the Cessna thoroughly before taking off at 8:20 and flying over the Pacific Ocean.
