The game was held on December 31, 1971 at the Houston Astrodome. The Buffaloes won 29–17. Film narrator Bill Whitmore also covers events held prior to the game, such as a players’ banquet and ladies’ luncheon, as well as the half-time performances. The Bluebonnet Bowl was held at Rice Stadium from 1959 to 1967 then again in 1985 and 1986. The Bowl was held at the Houston Astrodome from 1968 to 1984 then again in 1987. Formed in the mid-1930s, the Houston-based Bob Bailey Productions produced mostly industrial and educational films for area oil, natural gas, and petrochemical companies, but also made newsreels for Fox and Movietone.
