Commander Bolton, of the United States Navy receives an award for Jack Ford's work in "Midway Story." Scenes also include James Cagney receiving the award for Best Actor in "Yankee Doodle Dandy." Additional scenes include Greer Garson, Emmett Evan Van Heflin, Theresa Wright, and James Cagney, and the crowd applauding. Joan Fontaine also appears.

[Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] amended as the spell the end of our great democratic experiment this government is engaged in a role to save and perpetuate democracy not to destroy it so the government is not going into the motion picture business the government believes the motion picture business is in the right hands that is the award the government has to bestow it's faith in you [Applause] the government has nothing you can it is not bestowed for a single year but I hope and believe for all the years to come [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Music] [Music] it was processed and stored here and distributed by your war Activities Committee it is a formal evidence of the splendid contribution being made by the motion picture industry to the overall war and which the Navy is most great my instructions are to turn this award over to an officer who will deliver it to the Secretary of the Navy appropriately enough this officer represents and as a member of that fine fighting force whose glorious deeds at Midway are recorded in the picture Brigadier General Denny of the Marine [Applause] [Music] and get one edit caught I might say
