TV Schooltime - See and Do Time: Animals in Need part 3

Description: This is an episode of WOI-TV's TV Schooltime. Betty Lou McVay talks to school-age children about taking her dog Domino to the veterinarian for a check-up and rabies vaccination at the Charles Henry Stange Memorial Clinic at Iowa State University. While there, she meets several veterinarians, including Dr. Margaret Sloss, the first female graduate of the Veterinary College at Iowa State. Other veterinarians demonstrate how animals are checked, diagnosed and treated. Emphasis is on the gentle care given to the animals, both large and small. Betty Lou visits the Gentle Doctor statute in the veterinary courtyard and explains the significance of it. She concludes with a brief discussion about the vocation of being a veterinarian.
