Times Square 1939, NYC's Neon Wonderland | 8mm Film Scan

Description: No longer just the 16mm Time Machine! Adapted my scanner for 8mm. In this silent 8mm Kodachrome home movie, see the stunning animated ("motograph") and neon signs of New York City's Times Square in 1939; the animation on some of them seems decades ahead of what I thought possible. Film courtesy of Kelly Taylor and the Taylor family. Notable signs/locations: Capitol Theatre, Roxy Theatre, The Brass Rail Restaurant, Loew's Mayfair Theater, Planters Peanuts, Coca-Cola, Camel cigarettes, Ballantine's, Sunkist Oranges, Astor Theater "Goodbye Mr. Chips", The International Casino, Chevrolet, Vaudeville, Otto Messmer Animated Old Gold, "Magnificent Fraud" Bob Hope, Jack Dempsey's Broadway Bar, Romeo's Italian Kitchen. Film lightly graded/color corrected. Forgot to normalize soundtrack levels on this one, why its a little loud. *Contact for Usage* Songs licensed from Epidemic Sound: Like You and I - Golden Age Radio When the Sun Shines on You - Golden Age Radio #TimesSquare #NYC1939 #NeonSigns #VintageFootage #8mmFilm #ArchivalFilm #1930s #AnimatedSigns #HistoricNYC #RetroNYC #ArchivalFootage #CapitolTheatre #RoxyTheatre #BrassRail #LoewsMayfair #CocaCola #AstorTheatre #GoodbyeMrChips #jackdempsey #newyork #newyorkcity #vintageNYC #historicalfootage #1939 #archivalfootage
