Thomas Edison's "A Romance of the Rails" (1903) Silent Short | 16mm Film Scan

Description: Produced by Thomas Edison's "Edison Manufacturing Co." for the Lackawanna Railroad as an advertisement. The railway was apparently known as "The Road of Anthracite" due to all the coal cars, so the railroad company was trying to improve its image; hence the white suit and dress. You can just make out the lead man's name "I.B. Dustless" on his suitcase. The source for this scan was a Blackhawk Films print circa 1960s; as common for their prints of this era it was not particularly sharp, and it seems to have had a bit of extra 'wobble' introduced. Did a lot of corrections to try and make this worth doing, should at least be a better presentation in a couple of aspects compared to the other versions out there. Played back at 16 FPS. Soundtrack Added, Compiled from period 1903 recordings A Dream of The Ballet - Sousa's Band Love Thoughts - Sousa's Band Daisy Donahue - Arthur Pryor's Band
