The Top of Europe! Jungfrau Railway, Swiss Alps 1926 | 16mm Film Scan

Description: Travel to Switzerland in 1926 and take a ride on the mountain cog railway, to "the top of Europe"! Film starts out with a drive through the alps, with views of villages and Staubbach falls to the Kleine-Scheidegg station of the Jungfraubahn; then hopping on the train for the Jungfraujoch. They climb near the Jungfrau peak some and take in the views from the lookout. This film was shot by Thomas Corrigan Bourke on the Cine-Kodak Model A, as can be seen in the two photos at the start of him with his camera. In the second photo, you can see the battery powered motor-drive unit fitted. I believe this is how the car and tea scenes were filmed. The 'rolling flicker' in some scenes is an artifact of the camera. Film also has some spotting & marring, but hey it's a century old! *Contact for Usage* 0:00 Intro Photos 0:11 Drive to Train Station, Swiss Villages 1:13 Tea Time! 1:45 Scheidegg Train 4:24 Station to Jungfraujoch 5:18 Tunnel Lookout 5:52 Jungfraujoch Mountains 6:47 Lookout Dining 7:22 Mountain Views 8:39 Train back down Songs Added (Public domain from LoC): Rosen aus dem Suden - Johann Strauss & Prince's Orchestra Ziegeunerliebe Walzer - Lehár, Franz & International Concert Orchestra Musikanten aufgespielt! - Hašler, Karel & Victor Orchestra #JungfrauRailway #SwissAlps #1926 #TopOfEurope #CogRailway #VintageTravel #16mmFilm #HistoricTravel #AlpineScenery #KleineScheidegg #Jungfraujoch #jungfrau #mountainrailway #mountaintrain #trains #Switzerland #1920s
