Description: Nine-year-old Nicki Johnson is haunted by the death of her father at a funfair. Seven years on she is a troubled and confused teenager living with her mother. She is sent to a remand home for young women with emotional and behavioural problems. Nicki is overwhelmed by her new environment among a large group of tough, delinquent and maladjusted girls. She and Sarah abscond together rather than face being sent to borstal.
