Description: One episode of the mostly lost/forgotten nine part 1979 educational series, The Search for Solutions. Features a number of interesting (and not so interesting) subjects. Film starts with some absolutely bizarre bicycle contraptions from the record attempts at the IHPVA 4th Annual Human Powered Championships at Ontario Speedway. Followed up by clips of the human powered aircraft the Gossamer Condor, and an interview with engineer Paul MacCready. Then, a brief interview with Vincent Schaefer who developed cloud seeding. The film transitions to coverage of the Tour de France showing Bernard Hinault & Johan Bruyneel, and how the cyclists are experimenting. Coverage of the work of immunologist Paul Ehrlich follows, as well as research on marine life by a scientist. Gets a little more interesting with an interview from David Gordon Wilson, inventor of a recumbent bike. Finally, we get back to coverage of various human powered vehicles at the Ontario speedway. This reel seemed to have been cobbled together from multiple sources, with most of it being red/magenta faded stock. Color corrected the entire film to the best of my extent, within reason. Audio extracted with AEO-Light, post processed with Audacity.
