Description: The main portion of this film is given over to brief but comprehensive studies of the appearance, tone quality, and techniques of playing a great many of the percussion instruments. A feature of the film is a celesta demonstration as the orchestra plays the "Dance of the Fire Dragon" from Tschaikowsky's Nutcracker Suite. There are also excerpts from "Die Walkure," the "Tannhauser" Overture, Tschaikowsky's Fourth Symphony and his "Marche Slav." The film concludes with an arrangement of Schubert's March Militaire No. 1, featuring the percussion instruments.
