Description: The released version of the film runs 75 minutes.; Typed title card in negative spliced at head of print: THE FLOWER THIEF. The film you are about to see is a mixture of fact and fantasy. These have been fused in a way that gives the film its own internal logic. At times, it faithfully documents life in San Francisco's Grant Avenue Bohemian Colony (known to most as Beatniks). At times there is a plot, but only in the loosest sense of the word. (There were no rehearsals: the acting was spontaneous, generated by a peculiar mystique between the director and the actors). The film was made in 1960, at a time when most outsiders were condemning and berating these Bohemians as ineffectual humorless frauds.--P.J.
