Description: George Stroud (Ray Milland) is editor-in-chief of Crimeways magazine in New York City. He is fired by his boss, Earl Janoth, after he kills his mistress Pauline York (Rita Johnson) Stroud must lead the manhunt to find the mystery man. Stroud has to appear to lead the investigation diligently, and at the same time, prevent the investigation from identifying him as its target. He must also carry out his own investigation to prove Janoth's guilt.
