The 1938 Indy 500 - Pit Views & More (w/Color Footage) | 16mm Film Scan

Description: Today, I have some silent 1938 B&W and Color footage of the Indianapolis 500. This was shot by Canadian nickel magnate Herbert G. Fales. The race took place on May 30th, 1938. Shows shots from a platform, as well as shots right from the pit, where you can see refueling and other maintenance. (I initially had it titled as 1937, but with further information I now know it was the 1938 race, thanks to Jimal in the comments) Footage is about half/half color and B&W. The B&W was quite underexposed so it's pretty grainy. The color footage has been heavily color corrected, being 1937 Kodachrome it had a deep blue cast to it. Was shot on a Cine Kodak Magazine camera. The segment around 5:00 was shot at a higher frame rate than the rest of the footage, so it appears slow-motion. *please reach out regarding usage* Songs are "Get in the car and go" and "A New Orleans crawfish boil" by Unicorn Heads. #Indianapolis500 #1937 #16mmFilm #AutoRacing #VintageCars #PitViews #Kodachrome #ClassicCars #PitCrew #ClassicRacingCars #MotorsportHistory #OpenWheelRacing #Indy500 #RaceCar #HistoricAutoRacing #RacingHistory #indycar #brickyard #gasolinealley
