Description: Postmaster Nandalal (Anil Chatterjee), a young man arrives from Calcutta as the postmaster of a small village. He begins teaching Ratan, a pre-adolescent orphan girl, to read and write. Ratan is devoted and waits on him, but he has had enough of the rural life and resigns. The Academy Film Archive preserved Monihara in 1998.
