PEOPLE OF THE CUMBERLAND

"This film is a challenge to educators..." Describes the work of the Highlander Folk School in its effort to improve conditions for the under-privileged people of the Cumberland region. From a productive land and destitution, the people are forced to migrate to industrial mill towns, only to return there from long hours and starvation wages. "The photography by Ralph Steiner, and the commentary are very good. This film should provoke much discussion among educators, among adult groups, and among social studies groups in colleges. It indicates the possibility which lies before education in remedying some of the problems of our country." E.S.
