New York: Da Capo, 1988, p. 157; Sitney, P. Adams. Visionary film. 2nd ed. New York: Oxford University Press, 1979, p. 325-326, 328; Collage animation of Victorian engravings. The foreground constantly changes against more slowly changing backgrounds. The film begins with a hand dropping an egg, with the Victorian landscape changing to a moonscape. Figures float across the backgrounds, some tinted either red, blue, or green. The quick succession of cut-out images creates a Surrealist effect. However, the reverie (which has a "Baroque" music track) is occasionally broken by an obnoxious buzzing sound.; In his collage animations, such as this one, Jordan uses cutouts and backgrounds from Victorian steel engravings. This film is a color collage of roccoco imagery juxtaposed with symbols of the space age. Jordan says, "Our lady is a kind of guide to the bardo ... the world that a conscious entity passes into after death and before rebirth."; PFA 1604-01-2651. D0391; PFA 1604-01-8304. In March 2000 this reversal print was found to be similar to Lawrence Jordan's personal print which he has always liked, therefore this is the preferred print for PFA exhibition.
