Monastery

Rev. Michael Ahern, Jesuit priest and a man of wit and wisdom, has edited this remarkable movie, which tells the story of men of whom the world has known nothing for ten centuries—the Trappist monks. The life is austere to the extreme. No monk within the monastery walls ever speaks to another. Perpetual silence is kept. The monk works and prays 17 hours a day, sleeps in his habit on a bed of wood and straw, eats only one meatless, fishless, eggless meal per day. The monastery is completely self-sufficient. (Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, California, Oregon and Washington only.)
