Description: Ittō, the disgraced former shōgun's executioner, is traveling by river on a boat with his young son Daigoro. He is being followed by operatives of his mortal enemy, the Yagyū Clan. A group of four watari-kashi are idling along the road and rape an attractive young woman and her mother. One of them draws the short straw to take the blame for the rapes and murders of the women. At an inn, the young woman from the boat is to be sold into prostitution. She bites off her pimp's tongue, spitting it onto the floor.
