INTRODUCING INSECTS

Identifies the characteristics of the arthropods and makes a comparison with vertebrate animals. Shows examples of the main groups of insects and gives the key anatomical characteristics used for identification and classification. Uses microcinematography, slow-motion, and time-lapse to reveal insect development. Includes views of the flea, the Goliath beetle, the praying-mantis, and bees and ants; shows the moulting of a plant bug and the emergence of a moth.
