INFECTIOUS DISEASES AND NATURAL BODY DEFENSES

Uses photomicrography, laboratory demonstration, and animation to illustrate the two groups of natural defenses which guard the body against disease. Explains that the outer body defenses include the skin, passages of the nose and throat, and stomach acids, and among the inner body defenses are lymph glands, the chemical antibodies, the spleen and liver, and white blood cells, which are shown ingesting and destroying bacteria.
